Dol pa circuit trekking is one of the most popular treks along through Phoksundo lake, featured in Eric Valli's Oscar nominated movie Caravan. Phoksundo, also known as the Bule lake, cuts on of the deepest gorges in Nepal but contains no aquatic life . It is possible to visit Phoksundo lake a one week trek, but taking the fifteen days trail is more satisfying. Beginning from Juphal (flying to Juphal from Nepalgunj) the trail continues to Dunai and the heads north along the Dho- Tarap River to Dho- Tarap village ( 4040 m) an area inhibited by people practicing the pre- Buddhist religion called Bon- Po. The trail crosses the two high passes of Numala ( 5190 m) and Bagala ( 5070 m) before reaching the Hamlet of Ringmo on the southern end of Phoksundo Lake .
The hikers first glimpse of lake Phoksundo , set in a cleft between rocks that rise 2000 m into the clear mountain skies, reveals a scene of unearthly beauty a white glimmer of silver birch edges the lakes radiant turquoise blue waters. Kanjiroba 6883 m) one of the highest mountains in the region, can be seen from the top of the surrounding peaks. The trail back to Dunai is along the Phoksundo river as at flows south carrying the waters of Lake Phoksundo on their long passage via the Ganga into the Bay of Bangal . The river cuts a narrow gorge by early May rimmed with primulas, vilolets and gentians and shaded by tall spruce, of magnificent water falls tumbles 1670 m down a series of rocks shelves. Blue Sheep, Musk Dear, Goral, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Tahr and Bear inhibit the Shey Phoksundo National Parks set aside to protect an ecosystem typical of the high arid Tibetan plateau.

Day 1. Receive you on the kathmandu international airport then transfer to the Hotel.
Day 2. Fly from Kathmandu to Nepaljung, 45 min. and stay overnight in hotel.
Day 3. Nepaljung - Juphal Dunai. (Flight to Jupal and trek to Dunai ), 35 min. flight & 3.30 treks.
Day 4. Dunai  Tara Bagar , 6 hrs.
Day 5. Tara Bagar Sahartara Lasicap, 5 / 6 hrs.
Day 6. Lasicap Chhyur , 8 hrs.
Day 7. Chhyur to kalang Bridge 6 hrs.
Day 8. Kalang Bridge  Dho , 3 hrs.
Day 9. Dho  Takshi, 6/ 7 hrs
Day 10 Taksi Danigar, 8 hrs.
Day 11. Danigar - Yak Kharka 6 hrs.
Day 12. Yak Kharka Ringmo, 5 hrs.
Day 13 Ringmo  Raichi 4 hrs.
Day 14. Raichi Sangta, 4 hrs.
Day 15. Sangta Dunai or Jupal 3 hrs.
Day 16. Dunai or Jupal Nepaljung by flight 35 min.
Day 17. Nepaljung to Kathmandu flight 45 min. then transfer to hotel.
Day 18.sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley .
Day 19. Departure for the onwards programs. |
