Dolpo, a land beyond the Himalaya, conjures up visions of mysterious monasteries, snow leopards and blue sheep. It is situated in the western part of the country, and is one of the most remote regions in Nepal. Our route follows much of the route taken by Peter Mathiessen and George Shaller as described in "The Snow Leopard " ?. It is only by special permit that we are able to offer this trek through Upper Dolpo. Being the coltrolled region of Nepal,
minimum 2 person are allowed to visit there. Participants must be in good shape, for we are at high elevation much of the time on this trip. Five passes over 5,015m/ 16,500ft are crossed, and steep climbs and descents are made.
