Day 1 Arrival at Kathmandu valley

Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, we will receive you in a private vehicle and transfer to a hotel in Kathmandu. Our representative summarizes you about ABC combined with Mardi Himal hikes in the evening.

Day 2Drive to Nayapool Bazaar across Pokhara city. Trek to Birethanti (1,025m), 8/9 hours

In the morning, our trekking staff will pick up you at a hotel and escort you to the bus station. You will drive by the gorgeous rivers Trisuli and Marsyangdi which is very popular for rafting as well.

Pokhara is highly valued for the comprehensive view of the majestic Himalayas (Annapurna, Machapuchare in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu in the east). Astonishing Pokhara has some pristine lakes, caves, Buddhist stupas, and Hindu temples.

As you arrive here, hike about 30 minutes further to get to Birethanti village. Birethanti is a large hamlet with many shops and guesthouses.

Day 3 Birethanti to Chomrong village trekking (2,170m/7,120 feet), 6/7 hours.

In the early part especially after Birethanti to Kyumi, we take a local bus because this part of trail is dusty and busy road trail, thus trekking is not worth it. Kyumi hill is Gurung inhabitants and a few Brahmins. Furthermore, the trail passes through terraces, fertile lands, and a few settlements.

Continue to walk passing Komrong Khola, and jhinu, we reach Chhomrong, Chhomring is a nice Gurung village. In clear weather, you will have a nice Mountain view including impressive landscapes. Day 5Machapuchhare Base Camp Treks (3,700m/12,139 feet), 6 hours.

We start to go over Deurali’s viewpoint and walk further to MBC. There are two different trails based on the weather. So choose the right hiking trail as per the month you are walking. These areas are the most possible for avalanches and always be careful during the journey.

You should have good information from your experienced trekking guide at Gokyo treks agency before you start your journey to Fish Tail base camp. Clever hike up to Bagar viewpoint because several people have lost their lives here by falling snow avalanches. Later Bagar, the trail after Bagar to Fishtail base camp is nice and safe.

Day 6Annapurna Base Camp trekking (4,130m/13,550 feet) & descend down to Dovan

Today, we walk all the way uphill to the base camp 13,550 feet. Abc hikes follow the left-hand tributary of the Modi Khola. You can see the sunrise with a natural Panoramic spectacular view from the viewpoint of ABC.

From here we can see Annapurna 1st, Annapurna south, Barah Shikhar, Tent peak, Machapuchhare Hiunchuli, and many more snow-capped mountains as well as glaciers. Having breakfast in ABC, just descend below to Machapuchhare base camp. We meet the crew and take all stuff descend down to Dovan passing several suburbs and the green valley.

Day 7Trek to Jhinu Hot spring (1,500m/4,921 feet), 6 hours

The trail descends to Jhinu Danda leads through bamboo and Rhododendron forest with superb mountain views from Sinuwa village. Have in mind, that the trail from Dovan to Bamboo is most subject to avalanches also. The trail gives rise down and up to stone steps to Chhomrung village and down to Jhinu Danda where you have fun with the natural hot spring located on the Modi River banks. Stay overnight at Jhinu danda.

Day 8Jhinu Danda to Landruk village and ascend to forest camp (2,20m/ 8,268 feet), 7 hours

Walk downhill to kimrung Khola ad cross to walk on a rice terrace becoming more flat until we will reach Himal Pani (a cold waterfall). Here we will get some rest to enjoy the attractive waterfalls.

Beyond this village, the trail climbs gently crossing numerous streams and terraces. After a short distance, we will be at Landruk (1,640m), a pretty big village inhabited by a mixed community of Gurungs, Magars, and Brahmins. After lunch, the trail goes uphill to forest camp.

As you ascend from Landruck to forest camp the trail is quite stiff and more difficult compared to the last days. Reach Forest camp passing through different oak forests. Lodges along the Mardi Himal trek route section are community-based and built by Gurung society.

Day 9Forest Camp to High Camp (3,540m/11,614 feet), 6/7 hours walk

We will have to walk inside the forest for another day but as we reach higher the vegetation changes with more rhododendron trees. This is another pleasant day for us letting us walk on the peaceful route. The trail is steep at the beginning however changes to gradual climbing after a while. We will have some random views of snowy Himalayan peaks. The view of the Machhapuchhre peak is superb from Low Camp.

We have another pleasant walk here with stunning views of the close Himalayas in front of us. As we climb higher the route also becomes open and spacious as there is no forest anymore. The trail continues through the grasslands of a high region with occasional rhododendron trees. Spotting the lovely bird called Himalayan Monal; also known as the Pheasant Danphe in Nepali. This is a colorful Himalayan bird represented as the national bird of Nepal. Finally, we will arrive at High Camp to spend a night here. Stay overnight in Lodge.

Wake up early in the morning on the sunrise to catch a glimpse of Annapurna Vista. Get a morning sunrise over the Annapurna Mountain range. We have time to rest before we start a hike up the Mardi Himal Base Camp upper viewpoint for magnificent views of close Himalayan peaks. The trail heading to View Point is well-marked through the grassland and involves a few steep sections.

Overall, this is a moderate walk, not too comfortable, and not too challenging as well. In the summer season, this area has full of yaks and sheep along with several yak herder’s huts. There are some narrow and steep trails for that extensive care is required.

Day 11Return to the Badal Danda (3,035m/9,958 feet) & to Siding Village trekking (1,700m/5,578 feet), 6/7 hours

We head in the direction of the Mardi River over the beautiful and dense rhododendron forest. This trail, being different from the classical ‘teahouse trek’ explores the less-beaten path of the valley and navigates through the friendly tiny villages.

Continue to Badal danda leaving a previous track via the forest and heading towards Madi Khola. Descending further, we reach Siding village, a blissful Nepali countryside where we stay in a guest house camp for the night. Along the trail today we traverse through the terraced fields, past the farms, and cross over a unique bridge.

We had a great time with the trek team, who both looked after us well. Our guide Ram was very good at adjusting our schedule on trek, making best use of the sometimes bad weather, and taking account of our abilities.

The tea houses were better than we expected and were generally well organized too. The hotels organized in Thamel, Pokhara, and Bhaktapur were all perfect for us. The trek up through the forest to the final mountain ridge was very enjoyable, and we did get some fine views between the rain, hail, and snow.
