Ghalegaon Trek is very famous as a Gurung Heritage Trail. It is another popular cultural trek destination located in Annapurna area.
Gurung Heritage Trail offers natural beauty, picturesque Gurung inhabitants and brilliant mountain scenery, fascinating terraced farmlands, dense forests and high alpine meadows below the tallest mountains of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV and Lamjung Himal are features of this trek.
The isolated charming Gurung villages, their culture, and their lifestyles will definitely win your heart. The trek is possible to complete within 4 days and extend up to 8 days. If you are a photographer with a light hiker and wanting to explore the typical Gurung heritage trip will be truly wonderful.
Trek to Ghalegaon hill station will be more interesting in spring as the whole forest along the trail turns red, pink and white with rhododendron flowers and as it easy grade trek, the trek can be done in any time throughout the year..

Ghalegaon Trek itinerary detail
Our trek to Ghalegaon ghan Pokhara includes Gurung heritage trail is based on a community-based trek with 6 days itinerary compared to most walks in this region. If you are a trekker or independent trekkers who wish to do this trek quickly but are walking with limited time wise than ask us for a tailor-made itinerary.
Day 1 Arrival at Kathmandu valleyUpon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu with bed with breakfast. Our representative will give you information about further programs.
At morning, guide will come to meet you in your hotel. Then drive to the Bus station to take a bus transport to Bensisahar. As you arrive in Besi Sahar, you can drive continue to Khudi (790m/2,607 feet.) or you can hike from Besisahar to Khudi Bazaar. Stay there overnight at Guesthouse.
Today, we ascend steeply all the way to Ghale gaun gurung village. As you arrive, you will be warm welcomed by Gurung people. Stay overnight at home stay.
Early morning, hike to the hill station to see Annapurna Himalayas including Ngadi Chuli, Himal Chuli, Manaslu, Buddha Himal and Manaslu North. In the afternoon, soft excursion to explore gurung village, visit the local inhabitants, look typical houses, interact with them, test local food and many more activities.
The trail leads us to Ghan Pokhara for an hour and continue walk further to Baglung pani which takes about 6 hours as minimum day hiking today. Stay overnight at home stay.
We head to another beautiful typical village called Laxmi Bazzar where we stay overnight at home stay.
The trail ends for trekking at Begnas Lake. You can stay overnight on Begnas lake side hotel. Begnas lake and its surrounding is quiet and clean. Tourist standard hotel accommodation within Brekfast plan.
Drive to Fewa lake side area and check in the hotel. leave the luggage and continue drive further for city sightseeing or day tours. Today, we visit the great landmarks of Pokhara city which are given here.
Devi’s fall sightseeingDevi’s fall is equally popular to a Patale Chango (waterfall), 2 kilometer south-west of Fewa Lakeside in Pokhara. According to the famous belief that a foreigner named David was swept away into this waterfall and disappear. It has made gorges and flows through the caves.
International Mountain MuseumsThe International Mountain Museum is a place to get historical information about mountaineering. It includes all information about the highest peaks, climbing activities, lifestyle in the Himalayas, and challenges.
Gorge of Seti Gandaki River sightseeingThis River flows near the city area by making its way of the underworld. It appears in some places and a view is thrilling from the Mahendra Pul. The River flows powerfully by making a deep gorge and dreadful rush.
Phewa Lake boating sightseeingIt is the second largest lake in Nepal and a central tourist attraction in Pokhara. It is also a spot for water fun activities like boating and kayaking. Most of the hotels, restaurants, and shops lie on its bank. The splendid views of the Annapurna Himalayan range are dazzling from the lake.
Barahi temple sightseeingBarahi temple is a famous religious monument in Pokhara, which lies in the center of Phewa Lake. It is a two-storied pagoda style Hindu temple. Visitors should ride the boat to reach there.
You can fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu around midday and immediately walk further to international terminal hall for your return flight.
An optional plan is, in the morning we’ll drive back through the scenic countryside and during the route will stop for breakfast & lunch. It takes 7 hours back to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu, a guide will transfer to the hotel and rest. Stay overnight at the hotel. Trip finish

Answer: Yes sure. Provide us your flight details and request us for pickup. Our representative will come to pick up you at Kathmandu international airport.
Question: Do I need the experience to do Ghalegaon Gurung Heritage Trail trek?
Answer: Actually for this kind of trekking is suitable for keen trekkers/walkers who are able to walk around 4 or 5 hours a day, with a lightweight daypack. For this trekking, if you have about a little experience would be better.
Question: What kind of accommodation can I expect on Ghale Gaun homestay Trek?
Answer: We provide you tourist standard accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trekking routes. the rooms along the routes are clean with a cozy bed with a nice mattress and blankets. However we recommend you take your own sleeping bags if you have one with you otherwise, you may rent them while you are in Kathmandu.
Question: What kind of food can I expect on this trek?
Answer: All the local homestay while on trekking, they have attached restaurant and they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, dhal bhat, bread, soups, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season)
The dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night every day and Lunch will be provided on the way to the next place where you are going.
Question: How do I get drinking water on Ghale gaon Gurung Heritage Trail express?
Answer: During the trekking route there are all places hotels and shops where you can able to buy mineral water and you can buy it for drinking but however we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, we provide you with boiled water or bringing chlorine tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available at the campsite.
Question: Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?
Answer: During the lodge trekking there will be more chances to charge the battery. We recommend you bring an extra pair in case. Remember to bring your adapters! An extra battery will be recommended.
Question: Is there any communication facilities on Ghalegaon trek?
Answer: In this trekking route you can get telephone services as well as internet services as well.
Question: Can I use credit cards in Ghalegaon Gurung Heritage Trail?
Answer: No! You need to have cash Nepali rupees because credit cards work only in the bigger city areas.
Question: When should I book my trip and what are the payment terms?
Answer: Because our trips book up months in advance, we recommend booking early to avoid any kind of misunderstanding. We will, of course, make every effort to accommodate last minute bookings.
And regarding the deposit, we prefer a 20% advance deposit of the total price of the trip in order to confirm your reservation before you arrive in Nepal. And the rest of the payment can be made after your arrival in Nepal.

Answer: We provide porters to transfer your luggage. As we are a responsible trekking tour operator agency, each of our porters carries a maximum of 25 kilos of your backpack which means 2 guests (12.5 kg luggage of each guest): 1 porter basis.

Answer: Yes of course. If you are not happy to go with the complete full board package trip, still you can hire our expert guide to make your holiday tour safer. However, visit a guide and porter hire or email us for your detail travel inquiry.
Question: How much distance do I walk each day?
Answer: When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to a gradient, terrain, and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however, you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.
Question: Do I need walking polls ?
Answer: Walking pools are recommended but not compulsory.
Question: How much additional money do I need per day?
Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for a lunch/dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee, and some drinks while you are on trek.

Ghalegaon Gurung Heritage Trail short trek
Very spectacular ! The trek up to Ghalegaon with Ghanpokhara and Marshyangdi valley was great, along riverside through rhododendron forests. We saw a group of Monkeys. We spent a day in Ghalegaon, made a day excursion, bought some local honey and walked to Begnas lodge. It was tough, maybe not worth the effort.- Rehan Hui Chan, Singapore.
