Jomsom Muktinath Trek is known as Kali Gandaki valley trek explores the tremendous diversity of the Annapurna region following the old trade route to Tibet along the bank of the Kali Gandaki. Kagbeni is an entrance gate of the forbidden Kingdom of an upper mustang with the arid land of beauty against the backdrop of majestic mountains before ascending to the famous pilgrimage site at Muktinath adds the charm in your trip to Annapurna.
Jomsom and Muktinath Trek is religiously important by both Hindus and Buddhists. The main shrine is a pagoda-shaped temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu; there are 108 waterspouts around the Temple. The Jwala Mai temple nearby contains a spring and an eternal flame fed by natural gas underground. Since ancient times, divine flames of jwala have been worshiped as Jwaladevi (the goddess of flame). Likewise, trek to Muktinath via poon hill will be more interesting in spring as the whole forest along the trail turns red, pink and white with rhododendron flowers. This trek is a classic with 10 days itinerary compared to most walks in this region. The particular route is designed for globetrotters who wish to hike in a more relaxed manner than take a look at this itinerary. However for travelers who wish to do this trek quickly but are walking with limited time wise than ask us for tailor-made itinerary.

Day 1 Arrived at Kathmandu valley

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu within B/B plan. Our representative will give you information about further programs.

Day 2 Drive to Pokhara city (1,015 m / 3,329 ft), Transfer to hotel Fewa lake side, 7 hrs

You can take a fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara paying an extra cost USD 110 each foreign guest, takes only 25 minutes and transfer to Hotel. At afternoon, our guide will take you for little excursion to beautiful Fewa lake. Moreover if you are driving with Tourist bus, you will have beautiful landscapes on the way. If you are driving to Pokhara by Tourist bus / car, It takes around 7 hours

Day 3 Drive to Nayapul (1,050m / 3,444 ft), 1:30 hrs. Trek to Tikhedunga (1577m/5,157ft), 4 hours

After having breakfast at hotel we start our driving to Nayapul which takes approximately one and half hours. Then we conducts our journey to Tikhedhunga Via Birethanti (1065m.). It is easy trekking passing through several small villages and settlements. Afterwards we ascend gently to the final destination of the day. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 4 Trek to Ghorepani village (2,875m / 9,430 ft), 6 Hours

Today, we ascend steeply for the first 2 hours and then ascend gently passing through Ulleri (2,070m.) and Banthanti. During the journey, you will see a good view of Machhapuchhare known as mount Fish Tail (6,997m.), mount Hiunchuli (6,441m.) and as well as Annapurna (7,219m) south. Now, our trail is quite easier passing through Rhododendron and shadowy trees and ascends gently up to the final camp at Ghorepani village. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 5Hike to Poon Hill (3,220m /10,562 ft ). Trek to Tatopani (1,050m/ 3,444 ft), 7 hours

Today very early in the morning, we hike together to Poon Hill (3,232m.) to enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m.), Tukuche Peak (6,920m.), Nilgiri (6,940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7,847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m.), Annapurna South (7,219m.), Annapurna III (7,855m.), Machhapuchhare (6,993m.), Annapurna IV (7,525m.), Annapurna II (7,937m.), Lamjung Himal (6,931m.) and other numerous snow-capped mountains in the morning then hike down to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast at Lodge and trek all the way downhill to Tatopani where natural host spring is located. During the walking, we trek through nice villages, Rhododendron forest, the beautiful flower makes the jungle colorful in spring when they bloom. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 6Trek to Ghasa (2,013m./ 6,603 ft), 6 hours

You have to follow the trail that ascends gently up the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, towards Dana village surrounded by orange groves. During the trails, you come across locals are selling oranges. Just beyond the small hamlet of Rupse, a thundering waterfall cascades down beside the trail. Thereafter, the trail enters the steepest and narrowest section of the gorge. You will find the layered stone path well-constructed and wide. Then you head towards Ghasa recognized as a Thakali village where you see several flat-roofed Tibetan style houses.

Day 7Trek from Ghasa to Marpha (2,667m / 8,748 ft), 7 hours

The trek ascends crossing the wide valley of Kaligandaki. Throughout the trek, you will be enjoying many ethnic villages with a sparse population of Gurung, Thakali, and few Tibetans. As you are reaching larjung village, you can hike to Dhaulagiri Icefall which takes about only 3 hours (optional) On the way to Marpha we trek along the banks of Kali Gandaki through the Apple orchard, you can eat apples if it happens to be the fruit season. Marpha is a big village enriched with a Buddhist Monastery in between the village which has its own cultural importance.

Day 8Trek to Jomsom to Kagbeni (2,800m/ 9,184 ft) & Muktinath (3,795m / 12,448 ft), 8 hours

You continue to follow the wide valley of the Kali Gandaki, passing several villages. The wind generally picks up after about midday, but will at least be blowing at our backs as you head up to Jomsom (2,730m / 8,955 ft), then the landscape becomes increasingly arid and impressive with its mixture of browns, yellows, and grey, contrasting with the white snow caps mountain. As you reach Jharkot, you can visit an ancient Shakya Monastery believed to be built in 15 century, then you finally reach Muktinath where you stay overnight.

Day 9Hike to Muktinath temple. Descend to Jomsom (2,730m /8,927 ft ), 5 hrs

In the morning, you can visit the Muktinath temple which is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindu and Buddhist. Here you come across Natural flaming which really exhilarates you. You can enjoy a holy bath of 108 Taps. From Muktinath temple garden, you can see an excellent view of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m.) and others. Descend down to a hotel for breakfast than retrace your steps to Jomsom where you can stay overnight. In the evening you celebrate the completion of your trek with the trekking crew.

Day 10Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara, 25 Minutes

Get the early flight takes about only 25 minutes to reach pokhara. The flights are available during the morning time. The strong breeze blows during and after and frequent change of the weather prevents the flight being landed and taken off in the afternoon. During the flights in the morning, the sky looks very clear which makes you able to enjoy the best view of Annapurna Himalaya. Then taking a microbus back to Kathmandu city.

Day 11Final departure day

Question: Do I need the experience to do Jomsom Muktinath Trek?

Answer: No ! But this is suitable for keen trekkers/walkers who are able to walk around 4 or 5 hours in a day, with a lightweight daypack. For this trekking if you have about the little experience would be better.

Question: What kind of accommodation can I expect on express Jomsom Muktinath Trek?

Answer: We provide you tourist standard accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trekking routes. the rooms along the routes are clean with a cozy bed with nice mattress and blankets. However we recommend you to take your own sleeping bags if you have one with you otherwise, you may rent it while you are in Kathmandu.

Question: What kind of food can I expect in this trek?

Answer: All the guest houses/lodges in Annapurna trekking, they have attached restaurant and they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, dhal bhat, bread, soups, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season)
The dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night every day and Lunch will be provided on the way to the next place where you are going.

Question: What opportunities will I have for a shower along Jomsom Muktinath trekking?

Answer: Tea house trekking all the lodges they have a shower which you can get it somewhere paying and somewhere without paying however if you are in camping trekking – we provide you hot water bucket then you will take a bucket shower.

Question: How do I get drinking water on short Jomsom Muktinath Lodge Trek?

Answer: Most of all places hotel and shops where you can able to buy mineral water and you can buy it for drinking but however we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, we provide you boiled water or bringing chlorine tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available in campsite/along the way.

Question: Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?

Answer: During the lodge trekking there will be more chances to charge the battery. We recommend you bring an extra pair for in case. Remember to bring your adapters! An extra battery will be recommended.

Is there any communication facilities on Jomsom Muktinath Trekking?

Answer: In this trekking route you can get telephone services as well as internet services as well.

Question: Can I use credit cards in Kali Gandaki valley Trekking?

Answer: No! So, for the trekking routes, you need to have cash Nepali rupees because credit cards work only in the bigger city areas.

Question: When should I book my trip and what is the payments terms?

Answer: Because our trips book up months in advance, we recommend booking early to avoid any kind of misunderstanding. We will, of course, make every effort to accommodate last minute bookings.
And regarding the deposit, we prefer 20 % advance deposit of the total price of the trip in order to confirm your reservation before you arrive in Nepal. And the rest of the payment can be made after your arrival in Nepal.

Question: Who will carry my luggage on kali Gandaki valley Trek?

Answer: We provide porters to transfer your luggage. As we are a responsible trekking tour operator agency, each of our porters carries maximum 25 kilo of your backpack which means 2 guests (12.5 kg luggage of each guest): 1 porter basis.

Question: How much distance do I walk each day?

Answer: When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to a gradient, terrain, and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however, you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.

Question: Do I need walking polls?

Answer: Walking pools are recommended but not compulsory.

Question: How much additional money do I need per day?

Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for a lunch/dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee and some drinks while you are on trek.
