Mardi Himal Trek is less demanding trek routes located in the heart of Annapurna region offers brilliant mountains view, sparkling rivers and lush green terraced fields although the route is visited by very less people. Mardi Himal Trek is also known as Mardi peak trekking takes you through beautiful forests, interesting villages and cultural diversity that one can see in the trail. Visiting a Mardi Himal is also regarded as eco-tourism based trail passes through the lush forests filled with Oak, Rhododendron and other vegetation. We spend most of our days in the camps enjoying the alluring beauty of the nature. During the trek < we may spot varieties of wild animals sheltering in the lush forests. The trek further provides a great opportunity to explore rural villages and rural community that are yet untouched by modernization. Traditional custom and lifestyle of the local people is really worth exploring. The trail offers magnificent views of Mt. Dhauglagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna south (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) (6988m) etc. Mardi himal trekking is commonly known as Mardi ridge trekking is one of the less demanding hiking of Annapurna can be done in any time (except monsoon) through out the year.
Mardi Himal Trek detail itinerary
Our trek to Mardi Himal is a typical trek itinerary compared to most walks in this region. The particular route is designed for globe trotters who wish to hike to the glacier but are walking in a off the beaten trekking in Annapurna than this itinerary will be great for them.Day 1: Arrival day Kathmandu
Receive you in Kathmandu international airport. Then transfer to hotel by private car. If you have time, just couple of hrs time sightseeing around downtown Thamel.Day 2 Fly to Pokhara. Trek to Deurali (2100m/6,867ft), 5 hrs
After breakfast, drive to airport to get scenic fly to Pokhara. Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (Takes about 25 minute) gives you an opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking views of mountains such as Annapurna and Langtang and landscape flying to north over the snow capped Himalaya and green Mahabharat range to the south is adventurous. Meet the entire team here, than drive almost 45 minutes to reach on Dhampus Phedi by private car. Then the trek ascend all the way up to Dhampus with several stone stairs passing through terraced cultivated fields, settlements and forests. Dhampus village offers an excellent view of Annapurna range and Mt. Fishtail. Than easy walk through the rhododendron and oak forest until reaching Pothana village which takes about 1 and half hour. We can see the excellent view of Machhapuchhre. The trail takes another 1 hour climbs through the rhododendron forest to a pass with views of the Mardi Khola far below and the panoramic views of Annapurna South and Hiun Chuli to the north, and Pokhara and Phewa Lake to the southeast when we will reach Deurali. Stay overnight.Day 3 Trek from Deurali hill station to Forest camp (2500m/8,175ft), 6 hrs
Early morning, you will have a great view of Mountains and as well as Pokhara city. On the way from Deurali to Forest camp, you will have easy through the Pine Forest trail which is again steep ascend hills. The Forest is covered with the most unique flower called Rhododendron. You have to take the packed lunch today as there are not any tea houses or restaurants or hotels on the way to Forest camp.Day 4 Trek from Forest Camp to High Camp (3,550m/11,609 ft), 4 hrs
Trek to Low Camp where you can see the most amazing and clear view of Mt. Fishtail. Between the journey of Low camp and High Camp there is a hill station to explore the Himalayas like Annapurna south, Hiun chuli, Chhomrong Village, Ghandruk Village, Mt.Fishtail, Annapurna region, flora and fauna, beautiful village view, alpine forest, Gurung and Thakali culture as well as the least touristy trek. We ascend upwards again to High Camp where you will be staying overnight.Day 5 Discovering day in High Camp (3550m/11,609ft)
The trek starts up having Breakfast at High camp and takes your packed lunch to go to Mardi Base Camp (4500m). Almost whole day you will be hike around to discover passing through series of steep, rocky climbs separated by leisurely walk through lush green hills and High Mountain. Enjoy your packed lunch with an excellent view of Mardi Himal, Annapurna-I, South Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Ten Peak, Gangapurna and Gandarbhachuli, Mt.Fishtail at side and descend to high camp and stay overnight there.Day 6 Trek from High Camp to Sidding (1700m/5,559ft), 6 hrs
Have a breakfast with the brilliant Sunrise view at High camp and descend towards Sidding village. Walking back straight descend to the same fine forest you can again see the beautiful red Rhododendron forest. You will get your lunch at Low camp which is at the way back to Sidding. Sidding is a traditional but simple local village.Day 7 Trek from Sidding to Lwong (1460m/4,774 ft), 6 hrs
After breakfast at Sidding walk towards Lwong is an easy trek. On your way to Lwong you reach a place called Ghalel. Ghalel is the a small traditional villages with some small restaurants and Home stay, so you can have a lunch here. After lunch again start up walking towards Lwong. Lwong is also a traditional old village where you can see tea garden, ACAP office with some Home stay for you to stay overnight. In the evening, community mother group will welcome you by singing and dancing in some folk songs at your home stay.Day 8 Trek from Lwong to Astam (1530m/5,003 ft) 5 hrs
At morning time, a little excursion to Tea garden to explore the brilliant view of green tea garden and also the view of mountains. Return at lodge to collect your bag packs, have a breakfast then walk towards to Astam village in few hours. Astam village offeran and opportunity to get gimps of Annapurna Range, Mt.Fishtail, Lamjung himal etc. Stay overnight at there.Day 9 Trek from Astam – Melbot (almost 3 hrs) to Pokhara city 45 min. drive
Early Morning view the most amazing sunrise at Astam Village and have your breakfast at the home stay. Walk towards the Melbot where our private vehicle is waiting for you to drop off in Fewa lake side Pokhara. On your way back to Pokhara, you will cross milk river which is known as Seti river in Nepali. As son as you reach in town, you can visit some of the most beautiful landmarks of Pokhara city or go for shopping where you can enjoy your moment.Day 10 Explore day around Pokhara valley: Full day sightseeing
After late breakfast, we start our sightseeing to explore Pokhara city. The worth able places such as Fewa Lake, Devi’s Fall, Bishwa Shanti Stupa (World Peace Stupa) or Seti George, International Mountain Museum, Tibetan refugee settlement and Gupteshower Cave. Rest of the time, you can either take a relax at our hotel or visit the markets for shopping. Overnight at hotelDay 11 Fly / or drive to Kathmandu. Or extend your trip on request.
We will drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus through the road passing terraces, streams, rivers, local settlements, high hills and along the river side. Question: Do I need experience to do Mardi himal trekking trek?
Answer: Actually for this kind of trekking is suitable for keen trekkers/walkers who are able to walk around 4 or 5 hours in a day, with a light weight day pack. For this trekking if you have about little experience would be better.Question: What kind of accommodation can I expect on Mardi base camp express trekking?
Answer: We provide you tourist standard accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trekking routes. the rooms along the routes are clean with cozy bed with nice mattress and blankets. However we recommend you to take your own sleeping bags if you have one with you otherwise, you may rent it while you are in Kathmandu.Question: What kind of food can I expect in this trek?
Answer: All the community based guest houses along the routes in mardi himal trekking route, they have attached restaurant and they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, dhal bhat, bread, soups, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season)
The dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night every day and Lunch will be provided on the way to next place where you are going.
Answer: During the trekking route there are all places hotel and shops where you can able to buy mineral water and you can buy it for drinking but however we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, we provide you boiled water or bringing chlorine tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available in camp site/along the way.Question: Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?
Answer: During the lodge trekking there will be more chances to charge the battery. We recommend to you bring extra pair for in case. Remember to bring your adapters! An extra battery will be recommended.Question: Is there any communication facilities on Mardi himal base camp Trek?
Answer: In this trekking route you can get telephone services as well as internet services as well.Question: Can I use credit cards in Trekking?
Answer: No! So, for the trekking routes you need to have cash Nepali rupees because credit cards works only in the bigger city areas.Question: When should I book my trip and what is the payments terms?
Answer: Because our trips book up months in advance, we recommend booking early to avoid any kind of mis understanding. We will of course make every effort to accommodate last minute bookings.

Answer: When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to gradient, terrain and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.Question: Do I need walking polls ?

Answer: Yes ! Of course. Mardi Himal trekking is locally called Mardi ridge or mardi base camp trekking so do not confuse.Question: How much additional money do I need per day?
Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for a lunch / dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee and some drinks while you are on trek.
