Our Everest Base Camp with everest marathon Trek has a short, 13 day itinerary compared to most walks in this region leading up to the base camp. The particular route is designed for globe trotters who wish to hike to the base camp of the spectacular mountain but are restricted time-wise. For travelers who wish to reach the Everest base camp in a more relaxed manner can try this itinerary however if this itinerary is not fit you than send us enquiry for tailor made itinerary.

Day 1 Arrived at Kathmandu valley

Today is 18 of May and Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu within B/B plan. Our representative will give you information about further programs.

Day 2World heritage site of Kathmandu valley sightseeing.

Today is 19 of May and after breakfast the day will start to our guided trip to cultural world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; including visits to the pilgrimage sites of Hindus Pashupatinath temple, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa, visit Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess) in central Kathmandu . Evening pre-trip discussion and introduce with our fellow trekking staff for your adventure trip.

Day 3 Fly to Lukla (2886m/9,437 ft). Trek to Bengkar (2698m /8,822 ft.), 5 hours

We take early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, upon arrival at Lukla, we would be refreshed in one of the hotels and then start our trek to Phakding (2640 m). We trek following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi. Nupla (5885m) can be seen in a stone throwing distance on the opposite bank. During the journey, we pass several Sherpa villages such as Ghat, Phakding, Tok Tok and finally we reach at Bengkar village.

Day 4 Trek to Namche Bazzar (3440m/11,249 ft.), 6 hours

Today is 20 of May and the trail climbs from the riverbed on the left bank into the mountain, through a forest to Chumoa. We continue along the trail with many ups and downs; cross a stream, and pass by the tiny village Monjo. We then come to Sagarmatha National Park office where a park entrance fee is to pay. We follow a short walk along the riverbed of this valley where the major river meets each other. Crossing over the Hillary bridge, trek begin steep ascent to Namche Bazar. On the way, we would have excellent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m.). Surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, Namche Bazar (3440m) is a central hub of the area for food, trekking gears and other necessary goods.

Day 5Discover around Namche Bazzar

Today is 21 of May. Namche Bazaar is an ideal place for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading towards Tyangboche. We go up to Khhumjung monastery. It is a small settlement of Sherpa community. We enjoy the splendid view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche, Kwangde and so on from here. While returning to Namche, we would visit Museum just above the town that exhibits Sherpa culture.

Day 6Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3867m/12,645 ft.), 6 hours

Today is 22 of May and having breakfast trek heading towards Tengboche Monastery. The trail goes ahead leaving a steep cliff that drops down to the Dudh Kosi. During the journey, we would have a panoramic view of the Himalayas such as Ama Dablam (6812m), Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse (7855m) and Tawoche (6501m). We would visit Trashinga, Phunki Tenga and reach Tyangboche. Tyangboche offers a good view of sun rise and sun set at Everest and Ama Dablam.

Day 7Trek to Dingboche (4260 m/13,930 ft.) , 6 hours

Today is 23 of May and we trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260 m.). Leaving Tyangboche at the backdrop, we descend through a rhododendron forest and enter Deboche. Crossing a suspension bridge at Imja Khola, we head towards Minlinggo and inter Imjatse Valley beneath the mighty peaks of Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Lhotse. We finally come to Dingboche.

Day 8Acclimatization at Dingboche village

Today is 24 of May and we acclimatize at Dingboche to be familiar with the local climate. Today, we hike to Dingaboche hill to get acclimatize. Hike to Chhukung is optional, it also provides majestic view of Island peak, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Tawoche peak and others. In the late afternoon, we come back to Dingboche and take rest.

Day 9Dingboche to Lobuche (4930 m/16,121 ft.) , 6 hours

Today is 25 of May and it is our turn to head towards Lobuche from Dingboche which is situated at a distance of five and half hours normal walk. The onward trail is gentle up to Pheriche village. Along the trail, we would be privileged to have panoramic views of the Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde (5741m), Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse. We would have lunch at Dugla (4595m) and trek to Lobuche.

Day 10Lobuche to Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5545m/18,132 ft). Then to rest, 5 hours

Today is 26 of May and we trek to Gorakshep and drop our baggage there than we continue trek to Kala Patthar (5545m.) in the morning. Kala Patthar located at an antitude of 5545m/18,132 ft. and enjoy the view of sunrise. We could see Mt. Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku within 360 deg angle. Return Gorekshep to meet the entire team of running groups, check the medical.

Day 11Rest day to reserve energy

Today is 27 of May and you can meet the runners and groups, talk and relax but no other activities because you need save yoru energy to run for next day.

Day 12Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,540 ft), stay overnight in TENT with runners

Today is 28 of May and we hike to Everest Base Camp (17,593ft). Full marathon runners’ schedule: This morning will be a mock start for the race.

Day 13Everest Marathon day ! Running day !

Today is 29 of May and its running day ! Race starts at 7:00 am and finish at dusk. Full marathon from Khumbu Ice Fall at Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazaar (3440m). Non-runner schedule: After breakfast we’ll gather to watch the first runners come. During the running time, we will have check point on the following places: – 1st check point – Gorakh Shep, 2nd check point – Periche , 3rd check point – Phunge Thenga after Thyangboche, 4th and final check – Namche Bazaar (finish line), Race finish is at dusk.

Day 14Rest day in Namche Bazzar !

Today, is May 30 but you have a rest day to recover your body. However for nun runner trekkers will trek descend down to Namche bazzar from Everest base camp within 2 days. Meet the entire team and collect your baggage.

Day 15Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m/9,337 ft.), 8 hours

Today is 31 of May and as you meet your entire team, last evening, we walk all the way to get Lukla airport. It is the last day of our trekking. Upon arrival at Lukla, we would get refreshed.

Day 16Mountain flight from Lukla to Kathmandu.

Today is ist of June and We board our early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, we would be received by our representatives and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, go for shopping or request us to discover Kathmandu as a guided trip on additional cost.

Day 17Final departure day

Drop you in Kathmandu International Airport onward your final destination and our trip ends. Wish you your wonderful journey!!!

Question: Do I need experience for Everest marathon trekking?

Answer: Actually for this kind of trekking is suitable for keen trekkers/walkers who are able to walk around 5 hours in a day. But as you are participating in Everest marathon, you need to have experience in high altitude – somehow about 3000M above sea level walking with light backpack.

Question: What kind of accommodation can I expect on Everest marathon Trekking?

Answer: We provide you tourist standard accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trekking routes. the rooms along the routes are clean with cozy bed with nice mattress and blankets. However we recommend you to take your own sleeping bags if you have one with you otherwise, you may rent it while you are in Kathmandu.

Question: What kind of food can I expect in Kalapatthar with Everest marathon trek?

Answer: All the guest houses/lodges in the trekking they have attached restaurant and they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, dhal bhat, bread, soups, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season)
The dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night every day and Lunch will be provided on the way to next place where you are going.

Question: What opportunities will I have for shower along Everest marathon Trekking?

Answer: Guest house trekking all the lodges they have shower which you can get it somewhere paying and somewhere without paying however if you are in camping trekking – we provide you hot water bucket then you will take bucket shower.

Question: How do I get drinking water on Everest marathon Trekking?

Answer: During the trekking route there are all places hotel and shops where you can able to buy mineral water and you can buy it for drinking but however we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, we provide you boiled water or bringing chlorine tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available in camp site/along the way in the camping trekking.

Question: Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?

Answer: During the Tea house trekking there will be more chances to charge the battery. We recommend to you bring extra pair for in case. Remember to bring your adapters! And we recommend you to take extra batteries along with you.

Question: What should my insurance policy cover during everest trek?

Answer: Travel insurance is mandatory before joining any trips with us, and you need to get your travel insurance policy before joining your trips to Nepal. Your travel insurance must cover the helicopter rescue up to 6000m altitude. It comes handy during medical emergencies and contingency situations. It is recommended to get it from your home country. In case you haven’t bought travel insurance after arriving at Kathmandu; we can help you get one.

Question: How to prevent altitude sickness during Everest trekking adventure?

Answer: You should never walk too quickly too high ignoring your body symptoms. Proper altitude acclimatization is the best way to prevent the high-altitude sickness. Listen to your body, trek gradually enjoying the best of culture and nature while giving enough time for your body to adapt the changing atmosphere. Drink a lot of fluid & keep your body hydrated. If symptoms like headache, difficulty in breathing and other occurs then descend to lower altitude and taken to hospital. If condition worsened you will be airlifted to hospital in Kathmandu.

Question: What will happen if my scheduled flight in Ktm-Lukla-Ktm route gets delayed or cancelled?

Answer: Weather at Himalayas is uncertain which we cannot predict. Therefore, rate of fight delay and cancellation is high at Lukla. If this happens then you will be boarded on the flight tomorrow and you have to spend extra night at Lukla (if you are returning Ktm) at Ktm (if you are going Lukla). Helicopter rescue can also be used, that depends upon situation. So, we recommend you to allocate couple of extra days after your Everest trek, so that you will not miss your international flight back.

Question: What are alternates to flight from Kathmandu to Lukla?

Answer: The best recommended way to go for any Everest trek is to board a Kathmandu-Lukla 33 minutes scenic mountain flight. Another available option is to drive from Kathmandu to Phaplu (12 hours’ drive) and trek for a 2 days to reach Lukla. In present day, theer are also regular jeep service from Kathmandu to Salleri.

Question: Is there any communication facilities on Everest marathon Trekking?

Answer: In this trekking route you can get telephone services as well as internet services as well.

Question: Can I use credit cards in Trekking?

Answer: No! So, for the trekking routes you need to have cash Nepali rupees because credit cards works only in the bigger city tours / city areas.

Question: When should I book my trip and what is the payments terms?

Answer: Because our trips book up months in advance, we recommend booking early to avoid any kind of mis understanding. We will of course make every effort to accommodate last minute bookings.
And regarding the deposit, we prefer 20 % advance deposit of total price of the trip in order to conform your reservation before you arrive in Nepal. And rest of the payment can be made after your arrival in Kathmandu.

Question: Who will carry my luggage on Everest marathon Trekking?

Answer: We provide porters to transfer your luggage. As we are a responsible trekking tour operator agency, our each porter carry maximum 25 kilo of your backpack which means 2 guest (12.5 kg luggage of each guest) : 1 porter basis.

Question: How much distance do I walk each day?

Answer: When walking/trekking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to gradient, terrain and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.

Question: Do I need walking polls for Everest marathon Trekking?

Answer: Walking pools are recommended but not compulsory.

Question: What is ebc trek? Is ebc is similar to Everest base camp trekking? Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: Everest base camp trek is called ebc treks. And kalapatthar trek is also same trekking.

Question: How much additional money do I need per day?

Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for a lunch / dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee and some drinks while you are on trek.

Finally…. we have done our everest marathon 2017.
It has long journey for us, and its really worthy…. to see spectacular view of all the way and especially our running trail from Everest Base camp to Namche village .
At first we are not sure can we finish our Everest marathon running or not.
