Moreover, we pass several small Sherpa villages with nice lodges to reach at Bengkar village.
The trail climbs from the riverbed on the bank into the mountain ridge. Cross the river sometimes, check into Sagarmatha National Park office where everyone has to pay entrance fees. We follow a short walk along the riverbed of this valley where the major river meets each other.
Crossing over the Hillary bridge, the trek begins steep ascent to Namche Bazar. On the way, we would have excellent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m.). Surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, Namche Bazar (3440m) is a central hub of the area for food, trekking gears, and other necessary goods.
Namche Bazaar is an ideal place for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading towards Tyangboche. We go up to Khhumjung monastery (one of the biggest sherpa inhabitants) passing over Syangeboche hill station. As you are on the top hill, you will have an excellent view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche, Kwangde and so on from here. While returning to Namche, we would visit the Museum just above the town that exhibits Sherpa culture.

We would visit Trashinga, Phunki Tenga and reach Tyangboche. Tyangboche hill offers a good view of sunrise and sunset at Everest and Ama Dablam.
We trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260 m.). Leaving Tyangboche at the backdrop, we descend through a rhododendron forest and enter Deboche. Today, we will walk around the glacial lakes. An optional trip will be to discover 5th lake on your day trip but if you are only physically ft.
Gokyo Ri looms above the village on the northern edge of the lake and we leave camp just after first light, following a steep path up the hillside. As we climb, the summits of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu slowly come into sight and the view from the summit of Gokyo Ri itself, is one of the finest to be had in the Everest region – some say it is even better than that from Kala Patthar, return to Gokyo. After lunch, we have short trekking to the village of Machhermo.
The trail gently descends to Dole and then starts descending steeply to Photse Tenga (3,650m.) passing through rhododendron forests. Then the path immediately ascends steeply to Mongla Danda (4,000m.) and gently descends up to Kyanjoma (3,500m.) following small ups and down to Namche Bazaar.

Everest base camp and kalapatthar with chola pass trek is great
We booked our trek to EBC via Ammar at Gokyo Treks.
He booked our flights and organised our trekking permits, guide and a porter. He also advised us how much we would need to spend each day whilst trekking. Whilst we were booking our trek with Ammar we met a guide who had just returned from EBC who told us what to expect. When we arrived in Lukla we were met by our guide. We did have to book a porter after two days but our guide was helpful arranging this.
Ammar kept in touch with us during our trek to see how we were and to check the trek was going well. I would definitely recommend booking a trek with Gokyo Treks – everything was really well organised and easy, he gave us all the information we needed and the guide he organised was good. I would definitely go on another trek with Gokyo Treks if I visit Nepal again. – Sophie Boyce, Shropshire, United Kingdom
