Day 1 Arrived at Kathmandu valley

Day 7Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo (4,750m / 15,580 ft), 5 hrs

After Machhermo, the trek leads over a very scenic path to Pangka and then descend slightly, following one of the melt-water Rivers which flow down the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier. We climb a steep rocky inclined into the valley by the side of the glacier, passing the first holy lake. The second lake, crossing the path heads across the glacier to Cho La (5,420m.). Helicopter rescue can also be used, that depends upon the situation. So, we recommend you to allocate a couple of extra days after your Gokyo Valley Trek, so that you will not miss your international flight back.

Question: What are alternates to fly from Kathmandu to Lukla?

Answer: The best-recommended way to go for any Everest trek is to board a Kathmandu-Lukla 33 minutes scenic mountain flight. Another available option is to drive from Kathmandu to Phaplu (12 hours’ drive) and trek for 2 days to reach Lukla. In the present day, there is also regular jeep service from Kathmandu to Salleri.
