Our Story
Gokyo Treks and Expedition is a Nepal-based adventure travel company that specializes in trekking and Himalayan experiences, taking its name from an iconic Gokyo Lakes region to highlight its strong connection to the mountains. Founded in 2006 by Ammar Raj Guni to provide an authentic and memorable Himalayan journeys.
After working for many years as a freelance trekking and tour leader, he starts Gokyo Treks and Expedition with a vision to build a fully Nepali, owned travel company in Kathmandu. Today, we operate with an international presence and have representatives in Europe including Germany and connect travelers from around the world to the Himalayas.

During treks, we use water filtration systems to reduce single use plastic bottles and help protect the Himalayan environment. In camping, we use gas or kerosene stoves instead of firewood and encourage reusable water bottles with purification systems. Moreover, we support local teahouses and lodges while promoting environmental awareness and reducing waste on every trip.

Our team includes certified Guides (licenses) trained in first aid, altitude sickness, and mountain safety. They follow strict professional standards during every trek. They do not consume alcohol while on duty, so they remain focused and responsible.
We do not just work in the mountains but we also live in them. Our guides love the Himalayas and share their passion with every traveler. They create meaningful experiences filled with inspiration, joy, and connection. With 10 or 10+ years of experience, they bring deep knowledge of trails, weather, culture, and safety procedures.
Registered and Financial Security
Gokyo Treks and Expedition is a private company establish by the team of local tour guides. It is full registered under the law of Nepal government and holds all necessary licenses to operate a travel business. We hold licenses from the Office of Company Register (Ministry of Industry), Ministry of Culture, Tourism (Department of Tourism), Department of Tax Office (Ministry of Finance), and the Foreign Currency Exchange Division of Nepal Rastra Bank.
Further more, we’re also proud members of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Village Tourism Promotion Forum (VITOF), and International Porter Protection Group (IPPG).
