Namaste ! I am Ammar Raj Guni, born and grew up in the Langtang region of Nepal. An entrepreneur who achieved an MBS degree from TU recognizes the Nepalese tourism industry on a task to follow a sustainable travel in Nepal’s vibrant tourism industry.

My expedition into the world of tourism began in 1998 as a trekking porter, subsequently, two years later took part in the Trekking Guide License course (Provided by Nepal Government over NATHM) and became a professional trekking guide. Following three fruitful years of undergraduate studies, I once again delved into learning by enrolling in Tourist Guide training course, offered by NATHM. This endeavor bestowed upon me the coveted title of a professional city tour guide . .

Guiding travelers through the diverse landscapes and cultural tapestries of Nepal deepened my connection and fervor for tourism. This transformative journey led me to establish “Gokyo Treks and Expedition Pvt Ltd” in 2005, a testament to my unwavering commitment to the industry.

In quest of broadening my horizons, I embarked on journeys to Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, and some parts of Italy as well as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and India. These visit proved instrumental in acquiring an in-depth understanding of tourism principles and hospitality nuances. Furthermore, they facilitated the establishment of meaningful global partnerships with fellow tourism aficionados.

My mission resound with safeguarding the natural splendors and cultural heritage of Nepal for generations to come. As a responsible tourism entrepreneur, I am resolute in implementing sustainable practices that uplift local livelihoods while maximizing the benefits of tourism. My endeavors have been centered around sustainable, eco-friendly, adventure, rural, cultural, and agricultural tourism, all converging to create enriching experiences for travelers and communities alike.

Meet the team with Som Shrestha who has been working in this tourism field since 2005 with Gokyo Treks and Expedition. Som Bahadur Shrestha was born and grew up in Nuwakot district located in the Langtang Himalayan region, central parts of Nepal.

Shrestha is an expert and has a wide knowledge of trekking, tours, and peak climbing in Nepal. Initially, Mr. Som has been working as a field staff and was involved in much different nature hiking and travel activities. After years of experience in outdoor activities, and obtaining a wide knowledge of tourism-related services he became a professional tourist guide.

He took part in the Trekking Guide training course organized by the Ministry of Tourism in 2008. Mr. Shrestha graduated with Bachelor in Business Studies from the reputable Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He visited Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Slovenia, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia to know better-guiding skills.

He has been participating in an environmental consciousness program organized by community development foundation organizations. Besides that, he has been involved in Community Development Foundation members and non-profitable organizations which give charity to underprivileged backgrounds people.

Mr. Kamal Bahadur Khatri born in SinduPalchok district in Nepal is a professional trekking cook and guide as well of Gokyo Treks and Expedition Company. Khatri, working as a job of Trekking Guide since 2005. Mr. Khatri has great experience in camping cooking and trekking in Nepal, as well as the Tibet Himalayas.

Since he joined Gokyo Treks and Expedition agency, he has been leading as a guide and a cook. Participated in the Government training institute NATHM to get a hiking guide license as well as a food and beverage course certificate in 2008.

He did a Professional cooking job for a couple of years in Lobuche Lodge on the way to Everest base camp before joining the agency.

Besides that, Kamal visited Austria and as well as Tibet by profession. He cooks perhaps all ranges of delicious cuisine. Mr. Kamal always puts himself in an excellent position and respects each client as a part of his family.

Rupakheti Rajesh has born in Jeevanpur village of Dhading and joins us in 2013. Rajesh speaks very good English. He is well experienced and has wide knowledge about trekking, tours, and as well as hiking.

Initially, Mr. Rajesh worked as field staff and was involved in many different soft to extreme adventure trekking tours in Nepal Himalaya. Rajesh received his leadership training and participated in some training conducted by NATHM, Government of Nepal in 2015.

After years of experience in outdoor activities, he became a Trekking Guide. Rupakheti graduated with a Bachelor of Business Studies from Tribhuvan University in Nepal.

An active guide, been participating in skill developing training – environmental awareness program organized by various organizations. Besides that, he has been involved in Community Development Foundation members and non-profitable organizations that give charity to deprived and background people in Nepal.

Ngawang Chongba Sherpa has born in Solukhumbu below Everest, has been working with us since 2009. He speaks good English. Nawang is well-experienced and has a wide knowledge of trekking and Mountaineering.

Initially, Mr. Sherpa worked as a field staff involved in different adventure climbing and trekking. Mr. Sherpa received his leadership and rock climbing, Peak climbing, and as well extreme mountain climber participated in training conducted by the Nepal government and Nepal Mountaineering Association.

In addition, he did summit several mountains under NMA Peaks and as well as Everest and Cho Oyu. Everest expedition from Tibet side 3 times and as well Nepal side 1 time was the most unforgettable in his life. Currently, Ngawang lives near Boudhnath stupa, in Kathmandu Valley because of his profession.

Mr. Nir Kumar Magar was born and grew up in the Pikey peak area in the foothills of Mount Everest. He obtained the trekking guide training course on 2016 managed by NATHM and seriously worked in this profession leading travelers to the Mountains.

He joined this agency at Gokyo Treks & Expedition in 2015 as a trekking guide. Within a short span of time, he luckily got a lot of groups and visited several other regions like Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Mustang, and Manaslu region and guided the tourists to the Himalayas.

Nir Kumar is a friendly and honest guide who has a great knowledge of multi-hiking trails and always listen to what the guest want to customize with the site trips along with their tight travel plan.

Furthermore, he studied up to the higher secondary school level on HSEB BOARD and speaks English, Hindi, and Korean besides the Nepali language.

Ganesh Kulung is a certified trekking guide from the Rai community, born and raised in the picturesque Everest foothills of Mahakulung – 03, Solu Khumbu. With his friendly and honest nature, he has become a reliable figure among trekkers in the Mera peak territory, having been associated with the agency since 2016.

Since his early days, Ganesh harbored a dream close to his heart – to conquer Mera peak, a prominent trekking destination situated atop the hills of his village. Despite being focused on his studies, he never let go of this aspiration. Currently, he is in the final semester of his four-year Bachelor’s in Business Studies course.

Ganesh’s passion for trekking has taken him on numerous adventurous journeys, exploring some of the most iconic routes in Nepal. Among his impressive list of treks are Manaslu, Annapurna round, Gokyo Ri, Chola pass, EBC, and Tilicho Pass, showcasing his expertise in navigating diverse terrains and elevations. With his wealth of experience, he not only leads trekkers on unforgettable expeditions but also ensures their safety and enjoyment throughout the journey.

Ganesh’s love for his homeland and the mountains is evident in his dedication to making each trek a memorable and enriching experience for all those who choose to venture into the breathtaking beauty of Nepal’s wilderness under his guidance.

Meet Bharat Dhakal, a professional trekking guide from Palpa district, a renowned land in Nepal known for its Dhaka cap. Bharat pursued his Intermediate degree in Tribhuvan University in Nepal, where he achieved his skills and knowledge for his adventurous career.

In 2019, Mr Dhakal joined the esteemed Gokyo Treks and Expedition agency, where he quickly established himself as a reliable and experienced guide. However, his journey as a trekking guide started even earlier, back in 2008, when he first began guiding tourists through the majestic Himalayan trails.

Mr. Dhakal possesses an impressive wealth of experience in hiking outdoors in Nepal. Since joining Gokyo Treks and Expedition, he has been at the forefront of leading tourists on various treks, including iconic Annapurna hikes, awe-inspiring Everest trekking, and even lesser-known non-tourist or restricted areas in Nepal.

His passion for the outdoors and his commitment to providing an unforgettable experience make him the ideal companion for any trekking adventure in the breathtaking landscapes of Nepal.

Navaraj Nepal has born and grew up in the Langtang territory of Nepal and united with the Gokyo Treks Agency in 2014. With a passion for the mountains and a deep understanding of the Himalayan region, Navaraj has become an invaluable asset to the Gokyo Agency and a reliable companion for trekkers.

With extensive experience in guiding treks, he is well-versed in the various trails, terrains, and challenges. His knowledge of the local tribes, flora, and fauna adds an enriching dimension to the trekking experience, making it not only adventurous but also culturally immersive.

As a responsible and safety-conscious guide, he ensures that all clients are well-prepared for their trekking adventure. He keeps up-to-date with the latest safety protocols and medical procedures to handle any unforeseen emergencies that may arise during the journey.

Having a friendly and approachable behavior, Mr. Nepal easily connects with trekkers and creates a warm and positive atmosphere throughout the trip. He patiently answers questions and shares the stories about the surrounding mountains and landscapes, making the trek more insightful and memorable.

Uttam Kshetri, is a 22-year-old trekking guide originally from Ghandruk, now residing in Hemja, Pokhara. He has been guiding treks for the past 2 years, sharing his passion for the outdoors with fellow adventurers.

When he’s not guiding, he enjoy traveling, playing volleyball, and immersing himself in music. Mr. Kshetri completed high school in 2019 and received his trekking guide training from NATHM. Led several treks to ABC, Mardi, and Ghoropani, and he would be thrilled to take you on an unforgettable journey through Nepal’s stunning landscapes!

Manoj Bohara was born in Kabilas Rural Municipality, nestled in the breathtaking Langtang region of Nepal. He pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies before embarking on his journey as a trekking guide. Speaks Good in English and fluent in Nepali, he holds a valid trekking guide license, enabling him to effectively communicate and assist trekkers from diverse backgrounds.

Mr. Bohara started trekking career with an agency in 2017. Starting as a porter and gradually working his way up to becoming to attain the status of a professional trekking guide.

Throughout his career, Manoj has had the privilege of exploring some of Nepal’s most renowned trekking regions, including Annapurna, Langtang, and Manaslu. Accompanying authentic travelers on their adventurous journeys, he has gained invaluable experience and insights into these picturesque landscapes.

Lila Bahadur Tamang has born and grew up in Kakani Gaupalika -05, Nuwakot district in Nepal. A licensed guide in the Nepalese mountains, working with the agency since 2013. But before that, he was staying in Lukla lodge for a couple of years to work with Tourists for base camp trekking.

During his staying in Lukla base he did almost all high passes trekking routes such as Cho la, Kongma la, Renjo la…etc. Additionally, he also did the base camp trek many times with tourists and was proud to be a great guide for Everest Zone.

As studied up to an intermediate level in a college, he speaks relatively good English, Hindi, and Nepali languages.

Pasangkaji Sherpa is born and grew up in a Dudh Koshi Gaupalika – 07, Solu Khumbu, the Everest foothills, been involved in the tourism industry as a guide for 4/5 years. Especially, he was interested in this sector since when he was a little kid.

Pasangkaji has a good experience leading tourists from various parts of the world, and they are European, American, Japanese..etc. The language that he currently knows is English, Japanese, and Hindi. he is a friendly and loyal trekking guide from the Sherpa community in the Himalayas and join the Gokyo Treks agency in 2022.

Mr. Tej Bahadur Magar has born and grew up in Solukhumbu district lower Everest region. Tej participated in guiding course training conducted by the Ministry of Tourism co-operating with the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) and got a license of a mountain trekking guide. Working as a trekking Guide with an agency since 2009.

During the course of time, he worked with Gokyo Treks and Expedition company staying in Lukla bazaar for 3 years. After that, he worked for Annapurnas, Langtang, and Manaslu regions as a Guide. He is a well-experienced guide & porter-guide, studied up to the intermediate level.

Regmi Tej has good knowledge of trekking and basic mountaineering skills as he lives in Namche Bazaar with his family, running a tea shop. He speaks basic English and Nepali languages.

Hira Bahadur, was born in the Waku VDC- 8, Solukhumbu district, Nepal. He holds a license as a trekking guide specifically for the Nepalese mountains. Since 2007, he has been an integral part of our agency, guiding tourists to the base camp nestled in the foothills of the Everest Himalayas.

Though his expertise as a seasoned guide cum porter shines through. He has successfully traversed most of the adventure passes, including Renjo La, Cho La, Everest Base Camp, Amadablam, among others, within the Everest region. During high seasons, he is stationed at Lukla Lodge, eagerly awaiting the arrival of our guests to guide them from the Lukla airport base.

Mr. Bhakta Jirel has born in the Solu-Khumbu region, Jiri, Nepal. Born and grew up in Jiri village in the foothills of Mount Everest. I met him during the Everest trail running – Everest marathon in 2009 AD.

As he spoke to us, he did the Mount Everest Marathon perhaps 10 times already. Moreover, he did several trekking routes that are located in the Everest section. Moreover, he likes outdoor activities such as trekking, tour, and sightseeing. Mr. Bhakta achieves a guide license in 2009.

Bhakta always performs his duty excellently, whatever he does, studied until the intermediate level at TU, and speaks relatively good English.

Mr. Madhav Bhetuwal hails from the vicinity of Sauraha in the Chitwan district, where he was born and raised. He commenced his role as a Manager within the company in 2018. Alongside his professional commitments, Madhav finds joy in various outdoor activities like trekking, touring, and sightseeing.

Consistently demonstrating excellence in his duties, Madhav pursued a Master’s in Business Studies from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He is also proficient in English, showcasing a commendable command of the language.

Sherpa Fur Galzen has born in Solukhumbu where Mt. Everest and Amadablam is located, has been working with this company since 2009. Speaks good English and basic Italian. Moreover, he is certified guide and has a wide knowledge of trekking and Mountaineering.

Mr. Sherpa received his and leadership and rock climbing, Peak climbing, and as well as an extreme mountain climber, participated in climbing training conducted by the Nepal Mountaineering Association. Ascend several NMA summits (NMA PEAKS) successfully. And as well as extreme expeditions which as Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho Oyu, Burantse Expedition and more.

Sherpa climbed the Everest expedition from Tibet side several times as well as from Nepal side too. Currently, Mr. Sherpa lives in Jorpati nearby Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu valley. Apart from his trekking and climbing profession, he is also conducting a small hotel near the corner at Boudha stupa.

Mister Prem Rai has born and grew up in the Solukhumbu district of Cheskam ward number 3, Solukhumbu Nepal. Prem is from the Kulung Rai community, and work with us as a porter cum Guide (porterguide) since 2009 with our agency. Rai works from the Lukla airport base. He is an honest and friendly porter-guide who has a good experience over the high passes route on Everest mountain.

Lives about 2 days away distance from Lukla airport and will reach to Lukla on our call and confirmation. Stays at a hotel in Lukla and wait for our guests to welcome. Additionally, he is familiar with all trek routes, villages, and the Mountains that are located in the Mount Everest area and speaks Basic English.
