Helambu Trek detail itinerary

Visiting Helambu is a classical trek itinerary compared to most walks in this region leading up to the high Thadepati hill station. The particular route is designed for world travelers who wish to walk in a more relaxed manner than take a look at this itinerary.

Day 1 Arrival at Kathmandu valley. Transfer to hotel

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu with breakfast plan. Our representative will brief you about your trip.

Day 2 World Heritage sites of Kathmandu Sightseeing, 6 hours.

In the morning after breakfast, we start our day trip visiting world heritage sites located in Kathmandu city which includes Boudhanath Stupa (also known as the oldest stupa of Nepal), Pashupatinath temple (holy temple of Hindu where the cremation takes place by the holy river Bagmati), Later we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Syambhunath Stupa. And transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 Kathmandu to Chisapani hiking (2,215m/7,265 feet), 5 hours walking

Chisapani area trekking or tour conducts from Sundarijal Bazaar, where there’s a small dam and a hydroelectricity station in the northeast corner of the Kathmandu valley. The walk leads to a climb through the wet, subtropical forest to an oak forest and on to Mulkharka, a scattered Tamang village.

The trail again ascends through oak forest to a pass called Borlung Bhanjyang and walk downhill to get Chisopani village. Chisapani offers fabulous panoramic views of the Jugal mountain range including Langtang, Ganesh in the far east, and Manaslu, Annapurna towards the far west. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 4 Chisapani to Kutumasang hikes (2,470m/8,101 feet), 6 hours

Trek to kutumasang trail continues to drop from Chisapani on a good, sometimes level trail that crosses meadows and fields. Patibhanjyang is on a saddle at the bottom of the ridge at 1,770m. This is a Brahmin and Chhetri village with a few shops and hotels.
The trail heads north out of the Patibhanjyang along the forested ridge and then descends to a large Chorten, the Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang. Besides that, the trail climbs the ridge from Gum Bhanjyang to another pass at 2,620m. From the pass, one can look back over Gul Bhanjyang at the bottom. The trail then descends to Kutumasang at 2,470 meters for the overnight stay.

Day 5 Tharepati trek (3,510m/11,512 feet) hill station, 6 hours

The trail climbs above Kutumasang on a steep, eroded trail, mostly through fir and rhododendron forests where there are no permanent settlements. Furthermore, we ascend to Magen Goth (3,150 m) and finally reach at Tharepati hill. Therepati hill station offers scenic Himalayan view of almost complete Langtang range.

Day 6Tarkeghyang trekking (2,600m/8,528 feet), 8 hours

We continue east descending steeply down a ravine. The vegetation changes to large firs, then to oaks and rhododendron. Crossing a stream on a suspension bridge, the trail makes a short final climb to reach the prosperous Sherpa village Melachigaon (2,530m).

From Melamchigaon, the trail continues to descend to the Melamchi river. Once across the suspension bridge, the trail begins climbing up the other side of the valley towards Tarkeghyang. It is a long rise to this picturesque village at 2,600m, situated on a shelf high above the river. Tarkeghyang is the largest village in Helambu, popular as the trekker’s paradise and the destination for most trekkers in this region. It is a good place to rest and meditation in an old monastery.

Day 7Trek downhill to Talamarang (960m/3,148 feet), 7 hours

From Tarkeghyang, the trail makes a sweep around the wide valley end between Parachin and the pretty village of Gangjwal at around 2,500m. The trail drops down hill from the edge of the ridge but then continues at the same altitude along the side of the ridge crossing a number of streams, waterfalls, and landslides. Finally, it reaches Talamarang.

Day 8Drive back to Kathmandu, 5 hours

Early morning we take a local bus (private vehicle cost an extra) back to Kathmandu city. You can do some last minute shopping of souvenirs for your family and relatives

Day 9Final departure day

Drop you in Kathmandu International Airport onward your final destination and our trip ends. Wish you your wonderful journey!!!

Answer: Yes sure. Provide us your flight details and request us. Our representative will come to pick up you at Kathmandu international airport.

Question: Do I need the experience to do Helambu Trekking?

Answer: Miraculous Helambu Trekking is suitable for keen trekkers/walkers who are able to walk around 4 or 5 hours in a day, with a lightweight day pack. For this trekking, if you have about a little experience would be better.

Question: What kind of accommodation can I expect on Helambu Trekking?

Answer: We provide you tourist standard accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trekking routes. the rooms along the routes are clean with a cozy bed with a nice mattress and blankets. However we recommend you take your own sleeping bags if you have one with you otherwise, you may rent it while you are in Kathmandu.

Question: What kind of food can I expect in Helambu Trekking?

Answer: All the guest houses in Helambu Trek, they have attached restaurant and they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, dhal bhat, bread, soups, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season)
The dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night every day and Lunch will be provided on the way to the next place where you are going.

Question: What opportunities will I have for a shower along Helambu Trek solo?

Answer: Guest house trekking all the lodges they have a shower which you can get it somewhere paying and somewhere without paying however if you are in camping trekking – we provide you hot water bucket then you will take a bucket shower.

Question: How do I get drinking water on express Helambu Trek?

Answer: Most of all places you can find tea shops or hotels where you can buy mineral water to drink but however we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, we provide you with boiled water or bringing chlorine tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available at the campsite.

Question: Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?

Answer: During the Helambu circuit lodge trek there will be more chances to charge the battery. We recommend you bring an extra pair in case. Remember to bring your own adapters!

Question: Is there any communication facilities on Helambu Trekking group?

Answer: In this trekking route you can get telephone services as well as internet services as well.

Question: Can I use credit cards in Helambu Trekking?

Answer: No! You need to have cash Nepali rupees because credit cards work only in the bigger city areas.

Question: When should I book my trip and what are the payment terms?

Answer: Because our trips book up months in advance, we recommend booking early to avoid any kind of misunderstanding. We will, of course, make every effort to accommodate last minute bookings.
And regarding the deposit, we prefer a 20 % advance deposit of the total price of the trip in order to confirm your reservation before you arrive in Nepal. And the rest of the payment can be made after your arrival in Nepal.

Question: Who will carry my luggage on Helambu Trekking?

Answer: We provide porters to transfer your luggage. As we are a responsible trekking tour operator agency, each of our porters carry a maximum of 25 kilo of your backpack which means 2 guests (12.5 kg luggage of each guest): 1 porter basis. If you wish to have a private porter, you might also get it on paying an extra cost.

Question: Is it possible to rent a guide? how to hire a local trek guide?

Answer: Yes of course. If you are not happy to go with the complete full board package trip, still you can hire our expert guide to make your holiday tour safer. However, visit a guide and porter hire or email us for your detail travel inquiry.

Question: How much distance do I walk each day?

Answer: When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to a gradient, terrain, and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however, you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.

Question: Do I need walking polls?

Answer: Walking pools are recommended but not compulsory.

Question: How much additional money do I need per day?

Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for a lunch/dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee, and some drinks while you are on trek.
