We have booked an Everest base camp trek with a Gokyo Treks and Expedition, a local agency in Nepal. Like other trekking, we choose a guide Bishnu Panday for our Everest holiday. Although it is a peak season there were very less trekkers in the region because of covid-19 travel restrictions.

Ammar, the owner of the agency was friendly and answered all of my questions, and offered a cheaper deal to us. Luckily we had good weather, a perfect Lukla flight, and also from base camp, we achieved the most amazing view of Khumbu Icefall and little stone stupas, an open memorial park of death climbers.

Besides trekking, Ammar took us to a world heritage site of Kathmandu. Thanks, Ammar for arranging a great trip for us. We are hoping to be back for the next adventure in the coming spring season in Nepal.

I was lucky to have Ammar Guni as my guide for Nagarkot and Bhaktapur tours. It was a great experience. We had a great morning with fine views of snowy peaks. The nature walk from Telkot to Changu Narayan was beautiful to see fertile lands and bricks factory but encountered with some drops of rains in between.

He took me through a really nice and easy route and it was an experience I’ll never forget. If you have a chance to go and hike with him you won’t regret it.

We couldn’t recommend Gokyo Treks more highly. From start to finish, everything was seamlessly organized for us. When we first arrived at the busy Kathmandu airport we had to queue with hundreds of others to get our visas but our driver patiently waited for us outside. We were then taken to our comfortable hotel in Thamel for the night and Ammar gave us the rundown of our tour (with a welcome tea on arrival, of course). Ammar is a seasoned professional and will happily help answer any questions you may have prior to or during your trip.

For our trek, we had the fantastic Som as our tour guide. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide! Som has been with Gokyo Treks since the start and is so passionate about his job and sharing stories about Nepal. He is an absolute wealth of knowledge, but he also deeply cares for his clients and will go above and beyond to make sure you have well looked after. Not only that but he is hilarious!

When you are trekking together for 16 days, you need a light-hearted tour guide who you can share a laugh with, and Som will happily smile and laugh with you. Our porter Buddi was also fantastic. Although we can’t speak the same language, Buddi has a smile that will light up a room and makes you feel so welcome every day when he comes to collect your bags. Embarking on the 6-day Panchase Trek through the Annapurna region was a journey filled with absolute wonder. The views we encountered along the way were nothing short of amazing, with the landscape constantly transforming from serene rice fields to majestic snow-capped mountains.
