Bhairav Kunda is located at an altitude of 4,240m, northeast of Kathmandu valley which is near the Tibetan border. The Bhairv is a name derived from Lord Shiva from his 108 different names.

The name of the lake Bhairav Kunda named after the destructive image of Lord Shiva. Each year during the time of full moon day in August, a mass of Hindu and Buddhist devotees visit this place.

01 Day Arrival at Kathmandu international airport. Transfer to hotel

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with a private vehicle. Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu, thamel with brekfast plan. Our representative will brief about Bhairav kunda hiking information.

02 Day world heritage spots in Kathmandu Sightseeing.

In the morning after breakfast, we start our day trip visiting world heritage sites located in Kathmandu city. The Kathmandu city tour includes Boudhanath Stupa, a holy Pashupati temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Syambhunath Stupa. At Hindu’s temple Pashupati, Tourists can watch Hindu cremation takes place on the bank of Bagmati river.

03 Day Drive to Jalbire (1,000m/3,270 feet), 6 hours Bus

After having breakfast we will head towards Jalbire. We can have a view of the mountains during our bus traveling. We will head to the northeast on the road to Tibet to Balephi, which is once believed to be the business route to Tibet. The Banepali valley is just wonderful. We setup of our campsite on Jalbire, a beautiful Newari settlement situated on the bank of the Banepali River. We can also visit the Lord Bishnu temple.

04 Day Jalbire to Chanaute Trek (1,345m/4,398 feet), 5 hours

After our breakfast, we will head towards Chanaute village. We will pass through some Tamang villages and splendid waterfalls to reach to Chanaute. It is a small village and common home of mostly Brahmin and Chettri.

05 Day Chanute to Khani Gaon trekking (2,010m/6,573 feet), 6 hours

After breakfast, our next trek will be to Khani Gaun. Chanute-Khani Gaun is about 5-6 hours walk. The walk is a little more challenging. We have to follow the uphill steps. But we can have a great walk throughout the way as we can see the spectacular village and the streams. Khani Gaun is a Newar village and it is believed that during the war between Gorkha and Bhaktapur, natives of Bhaktapur came here to save their life.

06 DayKhani gaun exploration day

We visit Khani gaun to explore around, meet the local peoples and experience their local life patterns.

07 DayKhani Gaun to Forest Camp Trek (3,150m/10,301 feet), 6 hours

Later breakfast, we continue our ramble uphill steeps through rhododendron woodland. It is a great chance to capture the scenery of the rhododendron forest including beautiful birds and wild animals.

08 DayForest Camp to Pati trekking (3,765m/12,312 feet), 6 hours

Trek today is quiet difficult as we need to ascend for some hours however as you will have a great view of rhododendron and pine forest, makes your journey more pleasure. Additionally, walk few more hours to reach Pati. Pati is a little shelter for pilgrimage tourist from here, you will have an excellent Mountains view.

09 DayBhairav Kunda Trek (4,250m/13,898 feet), 4 hours

Bhairav Kund is a religious valued place. Many people from different parts of Nepal visit this place to take a holy bath mainly during June/July. August full moon period is the best time to visit Bhairavkunda lake. The pilgrims also pay their worshiping to the Bhairav (the destructive form of lord Shiva) in the temple found nearby the lake.

10 DaySherpa Gaun Trek (2,500m/8,175 feet), After Sunrise, 6 hours

Start journey little early so that tourist can have the exciting view of sunrise from Bhairav Kund top. We also can get the sight of shining mountains and mountain ranges namely Langtang, Jugal Himal Range, Rolwalling Range and the Tibetan Range.

11 DayLarcha Trek (1,500m/4,905 feet)! Visit Natural hot spring “Tato pani”, 5 hours

Today is closing date of our trekking. Our journey goes through the back of Bhote Khosi river. After reaching to Larcha, we can have a hot spring bath if we walk furthermore 30 minutes, there we will have another an have hot spring bath for relaxation. Return to Larcha from hot spring.

12 DayOverland drive back to Kathmandu, 5 hours

Early morning we take a local bus (private vehicle cost is an extra) back to Kathmandu city. You can do some last minute shopping of souvenirs for your family and relatives

13 DayFinal departure day

Drop you in Kathmandu International Airport onward your final destination and our trip ends. Wish you your wonderful journey.

As we are a responsible trekking tour operator agency, each of our porters carries a maximum of 25 kilos of your backpack which means 2 guests (12.5 kg luggage of each guest): 1 porter basis. However, Bhairav Kunda hikes is a challenging trek so each of our porters can carry a maximum of 22 kg of your belongings. If you wish to have a private porter, you might also get it on paying an extra cost.

Question: How much distance do I walk each day?.

Answer: When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to a gradient, terrain, and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however, you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.

Question: Do I need trek poles on my hikes?.

Answer: It is better to hike with walking poles. Learn how to use trekking poles for balance and stability, whether on the sidewalk or on trails. Walking poles can help prevent slips and falls. They are just recommended but not compulsory.

Question: How much additional money do I need per day?.

Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for lunch/dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee, and some drinks while you are on trek.
