Monsoon Season (June to August)

Monsoon season starts from June to August. Due to heavy rainfall, poor visibility, and increased risk of landslides in the Everest region, we won’t advise to hike to base camp in those months. Lukla flights often get canceled because of awful weather visibility. All in all, taking a flight to lukla and trek further to base camp are not a good idea to trek in Monsoon.

Winter season (December to February)

Similarly, winter months starts from December to February and trek to base camp is extremely cold, with harsh weather conditions. From Landing at Lukla to the Everest foothill often gets snowy and often Icey therefore there will be a limited teahouse availability along the base camp trail. In general, planning your trek to Everest Base Camp from Kathmandu during the spring or autumn season is the best comparing the other months. In those Autumn and spring season will provide you with the best chances of enjoying favorable weather, stunning views, and a memorable trekking experience..etc.

Alternative Lukla flight [in the high season].

We wish to notify you that high season for trekking, typically falls in October, November, March, April, and sometimes extends until early May, there will not be direct flights available from Kathmandu to Lukla. This inconvenience arises due to the significant air traffic congestion in the skies over Kathmandu.

In response to this problem, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has taken the decision to reroute all flights bound for Lukla through Manthali Airport, situated in the Ramechap district. Manthali Airport is approximately 5 hours away from Kathmandu’s airport.

This measure has been implemented to ensure a smoother and safer travel experience for all passengers heading to Lukla during the high trekking season. While the alternative route may add some additional travel time, it is a necessary step to address the air traffic situation and enhance overall aviation safety. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Everest Base Camp trek help

November 30, 2019

Ammar was helping me and my friend to organize our Everest Base Camp trek. We ended up not hiring a guide or a porter, but he still gave us plenty of advice and help that we needed to go there safely. Thank you Ammar for help!

Everest base camp and kalapatthar with chola pass trek is great

October 17, 2019

We booked our trek to EBC via Ammar at Gokyo Treks.

He booked our flights and organised our trekking permits, guide, and a porter. He also advised us how much we would need to spend each day whilst trekking. Whilst we were booking our trek with Ammar we met a guide who had just returned from EBC who told us what to expect. When we arrived in Lukla we were met by our guide. We did have to book a porter after two days but our guide was helpful in arranging this.

Ammar kept in touch with us during our trek to see how we were and to check the trek was going well. I would definitely recommend booking a trek with Gokyo Treks – everything was really well organised and easy, he gave us all the information we needed and the guide he organised was good. I would definitely go on another trek with Gokyo Treks if I visit Nepal again.

EBC trek with a sherpa Guide

April 25, 2018

We had a brilliant walking holiday in April 2018, walking the ebc which was organized by Gokyo Treks and Expedition company. They were really helpful and efficient and everything ran incredibly smoothly.

Our Sherpa Guide Nawang Sherpa, Everest submitted 2 times already which was an extra benefit for us to talk about expeditions story. The accommodation was clean and baggage was carried out by porters. I would definitely book a holiday with them again.

Chola pass, EBC and kalapatthar trek

March 17, 2015

We are back in Europe after a great trip to Gokyo valley – chola pass and kalapatthar trekking, March 2015.

It has long and adventurous journey for us but its really worthy…. to see the spectacular view of all the way and especially our downhill trail from Everest Base camp to Namche Bazaar. At first, we are not sure whether we could finish our trip or not. But together with the professional and experienced team of Gokyo trek and expedition, we prepare our journey, did run some of the high Himalayas along the routes, no doubt they have experience which made our trip much easier
