Helambu Gosaikunda trek itinerary detail

Travelers begin their journey after an hour’s drive to Sundarijal Hydropower station. The pilgrimage route to the Gosainkunda trail goes directly forward passing beautiful small settlements like Chisapani, Kutumsang, Mangan Gote, Thadepati Hill, and Suryakunda Pass.

02 Day Kathmandu to Chisopani (2,215m/7,267 feet), 5 hours walking

03 Day Chisapani to Kutumasang trek (2,470m/8,104 feet), 7 hours

Kutumsang trekTrek to Kutumsang trail continues to drop from Chisapani on a good, sometimes level trail that crosses meadows and fields. Patibhanjyang is on a saddle at the bottom of the ridge at 5,805 feet.

Furthermore, the village is mainly dominated by Brahmin and Chhetri, who is busy running shops and lodges. The wilderness trail heads north out of the Patibhanjyang along the forested ridge and then descends to a large Chorten, the Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang.

Besides that, climb the ridgeline from Gul Bhanjyang to another pass at 2,620m. From the pass, one can look back over Gul Bhanjyang at the bottom. Then descends to Kutumasang at 2,470 meters for the overnight stay.

04 Day Thadepati hill station trekking (3,510m/11,516 feet), 7 hours

Furthermore, we ascend to Magen Goth (3,150 m) and finally reach Thadepati Hill. Thadepati Hill station offers scenic Himalayan views of the almost complete Langtang range.

05 Day Hike to Suryakunda Phedi (3,520m/11,549 feet), 6 hours

Cross Ghopte lodges and ascends through a thin forest, climb in and out of ravines across the head of the valley, and Giant cliff towers far above. 06 DayHike to cross Lauribina la (4,610m/15,125 feet) & to Gosaikunda lake (4,300m), 8 hours

Surya Kunda passA tough day hike ascends all the way up to Suryakunda hill station 15,125 feet passing rocky moraine and rough hill walks. Adventure lauribina la hill station offers an excellent view of Rolwaling, Jugal Himal, Gang Chhenpo (6,388m.), Langshisha (6,427 m.), and many other snow-covered mountains.

Reaching the top of Suryakunda Lake, Tourists can gradually descend downhill passing rocky mountains moraine trail with several pristine lakes on the left and right sides.

According to legend, Gosainkunda was created by Lord Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world. There are exactly 108 different glacier lakes and the names are derived from Lord Shiva. Saraswati Kund, Bhairab Kunda, Bardha Kunda, Nag Kunda, and Gosain Kunda are the main highlights of your travel.

Gosaikunda Lake is a holy lake where people gather during the month of August to pay homage to God Mahadev (Shiva). There is held a big fair “Janai Purnima” during the time on full moon day.

07 DayDescend downhill to Sing Gompa and to Dhunche (1,950m/6,377 feet), 8 hours

Cholang pati, The first part of the trail descends, you can see the best view of Langtang Himalayan range includes Himal Chuli (7,893m,) Manaslu (8,156m,) and Ganesh Himal (7,406m.).

The muddy trail Cholangpati goes through pine, silver oak, and rhododendron forests with marijuana plants up to a suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa Stream. From this point, our path goes even through some human settlements and reaches Dhunche bazaar, the headquarters of the Rasuwa district.

08 DayDrive back to Kathmandu, 7 hours. Trip Finish.

After breakfast, catch a coach that is coming from the Kerung border, to return to Kathmandu valley. Reaching Kathmandu, Your guide will organize to transfer you back to your hotel.
