Day 1 Arrival at Kathmandu valley. Transfer to hotel

The bus stops roughly about 30 minutes from highway restaurants for lunch in Trisuli. We reach Dhunche bazaar around 1 o’clock midday.

From Dhunche, take a right trail through the forest to reach Deurali hill lodge at an elevation on 2,500 meters. Here, you can rest, have something to eat o drinks before ascending to Dhimsa. Dhimsa has a Lama Lodge with nice rooms to stay that located in between Deurali and Chandanbari.

Day 3Gosainkunda lakes trek (4,380m/14,370 feet), 8 hours

Ascend through a forest of (oak, hemlock, and firs) that incorporates a considerable staircase to reach Sing Gompa. Trek ascends to Chandan Bari or Sing Gompa which is located at an altitude of 3,250 meters above the sea level.

Day 5Short Trek to Thadepati hilltop (3,640m/11,943 feet), 3 hours

The area around Sundarijal is the habitat of 177 species of birds, which includes at least nine threatened species, 102 species of butterflies with several endangered species, and 129 species of mushrooms.

After a while, walk to Mulkharka from where you will have a spectacular view of Kathmandu valley. Mulkharka is a Tamang village that makes Raksi from millet and sells it in town. Descending through the forest and picnic spots, you will reach Sundarijal Hydro Electricity Dam.

Likewise, Sundarijal name principally derived from the term “Sundari” which means beautiful and “Jal” which means water. The Bagmati River originates from this territory and it has been the major source of water supply for Kathmandu valley since the Rana Dynasty.
