Ernst Reiss Swiss mountaineers and Fritz Luchsinger made the first successful ascent of Mount Lhotse in 1956. Later, Sepp Mayerl and Rolf Walter completed the first ascent of Lhotse Shar in 1979, adding another remarkable achievement to Himalayan climbing history.

One of the most demanding sections of the expedition is the famous Lhotse Canyon, a steep ice filled gully leading to the summit. Weather, snow conditions, and strong winds often determine the success of the climb. Although fixed ropes are installed on the route, Lhotse remains a highly technical mountain that requires excellent judgment, endurance, and mountaineering skills.

Furthermore, this expedition is suitable only for experienced high altitude climbers. Climbers should have prior experience on 6-7,000m mountains and feel confident using fixed ropes, crampons, ice axes, and other essential climbing equipment. Our 56 days Mount Lhotse Expedition itinerary is a standard package designed for experienced mountaineers. However, we are happy to customize the itinerary to match your climbing experience, schedule, and personal preferences.

1 Day: Arrival in Kathmandu & Transfer to the Hotel.
2 Day: Expedition briefing and Preparation.
3 Day: Fly to Lukla, and trek to Phakding (2,610m/8,563 feet), 4 hours.
4 Day: Phakding to Namche Bazaar trek (3,440m/11,286 feet), 4 hours.
5 Day: Acclimatization day.
6 Day: Tyangboche Monastery Trekking (3,860m/12,665 feet).
7 Day: Tyangboche to Dingboche Trek (4,410m/14,469 feet).
8 Day: Dingboche to Lobuche trek (4,910m/16,110 feet).
9 Day: Lobuche to Everest Base Camp trekking (5,364m/17,599 feet).
10-50 Days: Climbing Period [Base Camp – Lhotse Summit (8,516m/27,941) – Base Camp], Tent accommodation with Full Board Meals and drinks.
51 Day: Clean Up the Base Camp).

Question: Is pick up service available on my arrival day in Kathmandu, Nepal?.

Answer: Yes sure. Provide us with your flight details, We will come to pick up you at Kathmandu international airport.

Question: What sort of accommodation and Food can I expect this expedition?.

Answer: Basically, you’ll have a tent accommodation along the journey however sometimes you can stay at a guest house below the base camp. As you hike higher especially above the base camp, you’ll likely stay in tent camps set up by our expedition team.

These camps provide a basic but comfortable accommodations, usually including sleeping tents, dining tents, and sometimes even shower tents. As you move closer to the summit, you may stay in higher camps that are more Spartan and focused on providing shelter and safety rather than comfort.

Likewise, our professional cook cooks a delicious range of mostly vegetarian meals. They are Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, curry rice, bread, soups, and vegetables. However, meals are often more varied and substantial. It includes a mix of local and Western dishes to provide ample energy for the strenuous activity serve with tea/coffee.

Question: Will have a shower along my Lhotse trekking days?.

Answer: We serve you hot water on a bucket and you can shower if you want.

Question: How do I get drinking water on expedition Lhotse?.

Answer: You’ll have a pure drinking water after purifying using AQUA TABS while on camping days.

Question: Are there any communication facilities for Climbing Lhotse?.

Answer: Yes, communication facilities are available during the Mount Lhotse Expedition, although coverage becomes more limited at higher elevations. Mobile networks such as NCELL and Nepal Telecom (NTC) provide coverage in many parts of the Khumbu region. At the higher camps, satellite phones, radio communication, and limited Wi-Fi help maintain communication and support expedition safety.

Question: When should I book my trip and what are the payments terms?.

Answer: To confirm your Mount Lhotse Expedition, we require a non refundable deposit of US$6,000 after your application is approved. Remaining balance is payable before the expedition begins or upon your arrival in Kathmandu. Bank transfer fees are the client’s responsibility. Please note that the 10% payments are non refundable as significant costs are incurred in planning and organizing the expedition.

Question: Who will carry my luggage on my Lhotse expedition?

Answer: We do provide YAK to carry your luggage from Lukla to the base camp and return both way. However, above the base camp, you will have a support Sherpa depending upon the group size.

Question: Where can I organize my personal climbing gear?

Answer: If you have those climbing gear at your home bring them along with you. If you don’t have them, you can rent them in Kathmandu.
