Overview

The Renjo La Pass trek is an exhilarating adventure set at 17,586 feet, bridging Thame and Gokyo Valley. As one of the most remote and off the beaten path routes in the Everest region, it offers an unparalleled escape into the wilderness. Perfect for those craving an alternative trekking experience, this journey immerses you in the raw, untouched beauty of the Himalayas.

Throughout the trek, you’ll explore isolated Sherpa villages, towering peaks, glacial lakes, and pristine rivers. Every step gives a deeper connection to nature, far from the crowds. Known for its demanding trails and stunning scenery, the Gokyo Renjo La Pass trek is one of the most challenging routes in the region.

Reaching the Renjo La summit is a moment of pure reward. From this breathtaking vantage point, you’ll witness four towering 8,000 meters peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu along with a panorama of countless snow capped giants.

Trek to Renjo la leads through stunning valleys dotted with crystal clear lakes, including the sacred Gokyo Lakes, a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists alike. Nearby, the colossal Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest in the Himalayas, adds to the region’s dramatic landscape.

Renjo La remains a true wilderness escape, where solitude is part of the experience. It takes you through remote Tibetan Buddhist Sherpa settlements, whose ancestors migrated here in the 1960s, adding a rich cultural dimension to your journey.

As you trek, the landscape transforms from lush rhododendron and pine forests to rugged alpine terrain. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot Himalayan tahr, blue sheep, and even the elusive snow leopard in the higher elevations. Birdwatchers will be captivated by the sight of Himalayan monals, snow pigeons, and griffon vultures soaring above.

Although challenging, the trek is now more accessible with well maintained stone steps and fixed iron poles for added support. However, trekkers should be aware that Lungden and Gokyo Resorts close in mid winter due to extreme cold, frozen lakes, and heavy snowfall.

November 25, 2019

Three of our friends used Gokyo Treks for our trip to Nepal. Our guide, Kamal, was absolutely fantastic. We did the Gokyo lake trek and he ensured our needs were met 24/7.

He was patient when we were tired, and motivating when we needed an extra boost of energy. I highly recommend this company, especially Kamal, for your Nepal adventure!

Trekking Gokyo, Gokyo Ri and Renjola Pass

April 21, 2015

Thanks to the excellent services of Ammar Gunni and our friendly and helpful Porter-Guide Tej Regmi we had an unforgettable experience of the high Himalayas.

We had the liberty of changing and adapting our program according to the weather conditions and our progress.

We encountered a problem at the closing of Lukla airport, and had to buy additional tickets not to be stuck there for 48 hours (24 only:-). The team of Ammar helped us get our money back from the airline Goma Air who were not cooperative and tried to deny our refund,… but in the end, it was solved.
