Best time for ebc Kala patthar to Gokyo valley via Cho la trek
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are widely regarded as the best seasons to undertake the spectacular Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and Gokyo Valley trek via Cho La Pass. During these peak periods, trekkers can expect stable weather, minimal disruptions, clear skies, and outstanding Himalayan scenery.
Spring transforms the trails with blooming rhododendrons, fresh alpine colors, and moderate temperatures. Pleasant conditions, combined with reliable weather, make this season an ideal for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
Autumn, on the other hand, is known for dry trails, crisp air, and consistently excellent visibility. With comfortable daytime temperatures and stable conditions, it is a prime season for photography and offers a safer, more rewarding trekking experience across the iconic routes of the Everest Region.
Similarly, monsoon (June to August) and winter (December to February) are considered off season seasons, particularly for the Cho La Pass route. During the monsoon, heavy rainfall can lead to slippery trails, landslides, and leeches at lower elevations. Persistent cloud cover often limits mountain views, making this period less suitable for scenic trekking. However, those seeking solitude may appreciate the lush landscapes and tranquil, crowd-free trails.
Winter brings cold, dry air and remarkably clear mountain views, but also extreme temperatures and heavy snowfall especially above 4,000 meters to the high passes. Trails can become icy and hazardous, and proper winter gear and thorough preparation are essential. Many lodges close during this time, reducing accommodation options. Nevertheless, winter rewards well-prepared trekkers with peaceful trails and striking, snow-covered Himalayan panoramas rarely experienced during peak seasons.
Kala Patthar (EBC) to Gokyo Valley via Cho la trek difficulty level

Careful acclimatization is essential, as rapid elevation gain without proper rest may lead to Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Depending on trail and weather conditions, the circuit can be completed in either direction, each offering equally dramatic Himalayan scenery.
Thorough preparation significantly improves safety and enjoyment on this demanding route. Cardiovascular endurance training, strength building exercises, and practice hikes with a loaded backpack are highly recommended before arrival. Proper layered clothing, insulated gear, and sturdy boots are necessary to handle freezing temperatures and glacier crossings.

Fantastic guiding service for the Gokyo and Everest Base Camp trek
Ammar and his team played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our trip to Gokyo and Everest Base Camp. From the early planning stages, Ammar promptly and thoroughly addressed all our queries, making the preparation process smooth and reassuring.
During the trek, our guides, Kamal and Som, proved to be exceptional and attentive. Their extensive knowledge of the Khumbu valley and close ties with local businesses enabled us to secure excellent accommodations at each stop along the way.
Their expertise also came to the forefront when some members of our group needed to detour to lower elevations. Kamal and Som swiftly rearranged a different program, ensuring the safety and health of everyone.
For anyone considering a trek in the Everest region, I wholeheartedly recommend Ammar and his team. Their dedication, professionalism, and genuine care will undoubtedly make your journey an unforgettable and enriching experience.

Everest Base Camp Trek with Bishnu Guide
We have booked Everest base camp trek with a Gokyo Treks and Expedition, a local agency in Nepal. Like other trekking, we choose a guide Bishnu Panday for our Everest holiday. Although it is a high season there were very less trekkers in the region because of covid-19 travel restrictions.
Ammar, owner of the agency was friendly and answered all of my questions, and offered a cheaper deal to us. Luckily we had good weather, a perfect Lukla flight, and also from base camp, we achieved the most amazing view of Khumbu Icefall and little stone stupas, an open memorial park of death climbers.
Besides of trekking, Ammar took us to the world heritage sites of Kathmandu. Thanks, Ammar for arranging a great trip for us. We are hoping to be back for next adventure in the coming spring season in Nepal.

Everest Base Camp trek via Chola Pass and Gokyo
I recently completed my wish list of going to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo with assistance of Gokyo Treks and Expedition, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to go with the company. Ever since I contacted Gokyo Treks, Ammar Guni has assisted me with lots of decisions and given me advices, from what to expect on my trip to what are the essentials needed.
I was greeted warmly by Ammar when I touched down at Kathmandu airport, stayed at his house, and had a nice dinner with his family. Ammar even walked me to Thamel to get remaining essentials for my trip, and he made it so much easier since I’m not local.
While trekking, I was assigned a guide who then became friend, Tej Regmi, a thoughtful guide and genuine at doing his work. He gave full attention especially when crossing Chola Pass glacier which is dangerous. Tej even suggested alternative trekking routes since I was finishing my trip earlier than expected. The best is, friends who I knew along my trip even complimented him for being thoughtful.
Overall, I’m very happy with services by Ammar and his team, and for me their actions have spoken louder than words. Thanks for the great experience Gokyo Treks and Expedition! I strongly recommend them if you’re visiting Nepal.
