The Machermo peak climbing itinerary details
Our Machermo peak climbing 16 days itinerary is a sample plan. Climbing travelers, who wish to go to Gokyo valley with a more relaxing plan or want to have a private customized plan? email us your thoughts.
01 DayArrival at Kathmandu valley. The World Heritage site of Kathmandu valley sightseeing, 6 hours.Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will pick you up and drop you at your hotel in Thamel with a private car. Leaving luggage at the hotel, we start with our guided trip to the UNESCO world heritage site in Kathmandu valley.
The sightseeing includes the pilgrimage sites of Hindu Pashupatinath temple, the world’s biggest Bouddhanath Stupa, and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with the temple, unique architecture, and Kumari (living goddess) in central Kathmandu. Evening introduction with a travel buddy for your adventure mountain Machhermo peak climbing.
Take an early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airport (2,860m/9,381 feet), seat at north side to get a better view. Landing in Lukla bazaar, meet our entire crew, have breakfast, and proceed to go.
Hike from Lukla to Phakding village is the easiest part as the landscapes go slightly up in ascending rank. The travel goes further with a gentle rise in the mountainside of the Dudh Koshi canyon. Passing several Sherpa localities, we reach Bengkar village.
The trail ascends across the Koshi riverbank into the mountain, through a forest to Chumoa. Continue to cross a stream, and pass by the tiny Monjo village to the Sagarmatha National Park office where we need to pay for entrance fees.
Cross the Hillary bridge, the trek begins the steep ascent to Namche Bazar. In between the pine forest, we have first-rate Everest (8,848m) and Lhotse (8,516m.) mountain views. Encircled around the mountains, Namche Bazaar is the central heart of the area for food, trekking gear, and other necessary goods.

We start with a steep one-hour climb to the Sengboche airstrip (3790m), from where we will slowly ascent towards Khunde passing numerous chorten (stone Buddhist monuments) and hill station.
Hike up to the hilltop to get an excellent view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche, Kwangde, Thamserku, and many other snowy mountains in a row. Khumjung is a foothill of Khumbila and interested tourists go to visit the Khumjung monastery.
The classical Gokyo trail ascends up to Mong la pass at 4,000 meters ridgeline. A short stop for photography rest because Mong la hill station offers an excellent mountain view of several tallest mountains.
You trek steeply descend passing through Phortse Tenga and climbing steeply to Dhole, through rhododendron and birch forest.

Journey leads steadily along the side of the valley, where the small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper as the altitude rises. The mountain hiking trail passes many summer settlements, yaks are taken to these pastures to graze in the summer months. Ahead of you are excellent views of Cho Oyu, while back down the valley are the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku.

The Himalayan trail leads over the scenic grassy walks at Pangka, descend slightly, following one of the melt-water Rivers which flow down the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier. We climb Everest Gokyo trek a steep rocky sloping valley by the side of the Gokyo glacial river.
The final destination is ultimately Gokyo lake, where we stay overnight in a good lodge. The Gokyo Everest trek journey today is just a superb trip rather to earlier days in terms of landscape and Mountains view.
Later Lunch, Gokyo Ridge hikes is situated just above the side of Gokyo lake and a Ngozumpa glacier, the biggest glacier in Nepal. You can hike at the top of Gokyo Ridgeline to get a super view of the tallest peaks at 360 deg angle.
Our support team will take you to the high camp which takes about 5 hours. You will have climbing practice using climbing equipment. Journey offers stunning views of the Himalayas including mount cholatse, taboche, amadablam, and more. Stay overnight in Tent.
As you go higher the grassy trail goes more stepper and diluent and sleeper. On a colder night with dry weather, the climbing path could be blue ice which makes your climbing harder. The Machhermo summit is tiny with amazing views of the entire Khumbu District. After a successful ascend, return to base camp where we spend the night.
There is no such guarantee that we can get quite favorable weather while climbing. So this day is used as a contingency in case we are unable to get to the summit on an earlier day. If the weather gets exceptionally unfavorable, we wisely have to postpone the program. Sometimes somebody in the group may get some problems acclimatizing well enough to make the ascent; the day can be used in that condition too. If the trip goes smoothly, we do not need this spare day so we descend downhill.
A long day walk to get to Monjo village passing sherpa settlements. If you can’t reach Monjo today, you might customize your day and stay in Namche Bazaar. And try to walk to Lukla’s guest house in the next day.
An easy hikes today to get back at Lukla airport. We trek to Lukla Bazaar with the same trail that we use on our ascending. It is the last day of our climbing. Our guide will go to the airline counter to reconfirm the return flight to Kathmandu for the next morning.
We board our early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu airport. Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan international airport, we arrange a return transfer back to your hotel. In the afternoon, go shopping or request us to discover Kathmandu as a guided trip at additional cost.
Drop you at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) onward to your final destination and our trip ends. Wish you a wonderful journey.
