Overview

The EBC trek is equally popular as Base Camp Everest trekking in Nepal. Hike the ebc is a spectacular high altitude trek in the mountains of the Khumbu Himalayas. Get ready for incredible scenery and a unique cultural experience exploring the challenging trekking routes around the highest mountain in the world.

The journey to ebc is an epic trip that is the most demanding route that conducts landing at Lukla airport. Planning to visit the base camp is an outstanding tour touching the tallest peaks with the coldest glaciers.

The EBC trek difficulty level is a moderate adventure. The normal ebc hikes often require two weeks to cover high mountains, landscapes, isolated villages, and Buddhist monasteries. Even though the EBC tours require no prior trekking expertise, it is suggested that the trekker should be determined and be physically healthy.

Your journey at Everest mountain goes inside into the depth in Sagarmatha national park. The Sagarmatha park side is under the UNESCO world heritage sites in Nepal. A pure ebc adventure hike takes you to the foothills of Mount Everest (8,848m) and more world’s 8,000-meter mountains. They are Mount Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu.

ebc hike altitude meter Gokyo treks

The magical ebc is either one of two base camps on either side of Mount Everest. South Base Camp is located in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364m and North Base Camp is at 5,5150m in Tibet. These camps are primarily used by mountaineers to ascend and descend the World’s highest mountain.

However, ebc trek route is suitable for all age tourists. A child over 5 years is also okay to go ebc except in the winter months. Winter trail to ebc is frozen and sleepy, clear of all but only the bravest travelers can hike. December month especially in Christmas and New year is fine to explore ebc. Trekking in late January until the end of February, the weather is not clear, cloudy, and snowstorms so not very good to hike. The weather is extremely cold and the hiking route is frozen and the chances of affects altitude mountain sickness highly.

How much does for EBC Package Trip Cost / Price?

EBC trek cost depends upon the month and the group size you are coming with. The cost of EBC Trip Package with a Gokyo Treks Agency (local tour agency in Nepal) ranges between US$ 925 to 1,250.

International group leader will get discounts on ebc package trip. For example, if you could bring 10+ travelers (except you) to your trip, you are treated as a group leader. So you can hike base camp for free of cost. Besides that, EBC trek cost for nepali is cheaper than foreigners because of park permits.

EBC trek review

10 days 9 Nights EBC TREK

100% 5 star based on – 316 Based on TripAdvisor Reviews

Its our second time in Nepal for ebc trek with Gokyo Treks and Expedition. We were travelling to NEPAL and landed in Kathmandu on 10th of October 2021 for Our ebc trek. Gokyo treks agency booked everything for us like a guide, a porter, Lukla flight tickets and of course Sagaramatha national park trek permits.

As we know landing in Kathmandu without trekking permits is difficult to get my Nepal visa. Thus we have booked everything just before we proceed to Nepal.

Ammar, the agency owner issued our Lukla flight tickets and issued all permits, and sent us via email. We have printed those documents to show in the Kathmandu immigration to get our visa.

As soon as we met Ammar in the airport, he arranged a private transfer to the hotel as it was very important for us.

The trek was tough as it was 9 nights 10 days but completed without any trouble. Our guide Ram was just outstanding as he handle all hotel bookings by Handy prior we reach the guest houses. And Porter Ganesh was also very friendly.

All in all, Ammar did a great job and we are very happy and promise to be back again for Langtang trek in 2022 and we definitely choose his agency to go again. Thank you and see you next March 2022! – Butterfly, Osceola St, Denver, CO 80219, United States

The Best Everest Base Camp Trekking review

100% 5 star based on – 210 Based on TripAdvisor Reviews

We’ve booked our base camp trek before we went to Nepal. We told the team of Gokyo Treks about our wishes and we did have a lot of questions about the trekking and the equipment checklist. They respond very quickly and gave us a lot of facts, suggestions and offered a good price. During the the trekking everything was organized very well. We choose for a porter and guide service for ebc trek.

He grow up in the mountains and did know everything about the area, weather conditions, altitude sickness etc. In case of emergency we could call with the team in Kathmandu 24/7. A couple of other tourist told us that they were a bit jealous because they wanted a guide as we had. We did have a beautiful trekking and afeeterwards the team of Gokyo Treks was really interested in our experience. – Estherv Wezel Utrecht, The Netherlands

EBC trek and kala patthar trek review

The best EBC trek + Kala Pattar

100% 5 star based on – 205 Based on TripAdvisor Reviews

Ammar the owner of the company gave me a great feeIing of being in good hands of responding my all emails quickly. Right after arrival, we met Ammar in his office with the help of one of his colleague. There were still a lot of constructions at the house so Ammar was quite busy arranging thigs there. Nevertheless he made time for me and answered my last questions.

The trek itself was an unforgetable journey to ebc through the heart of Solukhumbu. I climbed Kala Patthar twice: early in the AM to see the sunrise over Everest and later that afternoon hiked in a roundabout way enjoying the views and the changing skies.

Actually the plan was to cross Chola Pass and go for Gokyo Ri too but unfortunately the pass was closed due to the huge snow fall. But even without Chola and Gokyo it was my most memeroable holiday so far. So I will not hesitate to highly recommend Gokyo Treks & Expeditions. Thank you for this ebc adventure. – Thorsten Schaefer, Kassel, Germany

EBC via Chola Pass and Gokyo lakes

100% 5 star based on – 228 Based on TripAdvisor Reviews

I recently completed my wish list of going to ebc and Gokyo with the assistance from Gokyo Treks and Expedition, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to go with the company. Ever since I contacted Gokyo Treks, Ammar Guni has assisted me with lots of decisions and given me advice, from what to expect on my trip to what are the essentials needed.

I was greeted warmly by Ammar when I touched down at Kathmandu airport, stayed at his house, and had a nice dinner with his family. Ammar even walked me to Thamel to get hiking essentials for my trip, and he made it so much easier since I’m not local.

While trekking, I was assigned a guide who became friend, Tej Regmi, a thoughtful guide and genuine at doing his work. He gave full attention, especially when crossing Chola Pass glacier which is dangerous. Tej even suggested alternative trekking routes since I was finishing my trip earlier than expected. The best is, friends who I knew along my trip even complimented him for being thoughtful.

Overall, I’m very happy with services by Ammar and his team, and for me, their actions have spoken louder than words. Thanks for the great experience Gokyo Treks and Expedition! I strongly recommend them if you’re visiting Nepal. – Zhafir Mustafa, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Everest base camp and kalapatthar hike

100% 5 star based on – 210 Based on TripAdvisor Reviews

We booked our trail to everest base camp via Ammar at Gokyo Treks.

He booked our flights, organise our trekking permits, and guide. He also advised us how much we would need to spend each day whilst trekking. Whilst we were booking our trek with Ammar we met a guide who had just returned from EBC who told us what to expect.

When we arrived in Lukla we were met by our guide. We did have to book a porter after two days but our guide was helpful in arranging this. Ammar kept in touch with us during our trek to see how we were and to check the trek was going well.

I would definitely recommend booking a trek with Gokyo Treks – everything was really well organized and easy, he gave us all the information we needed and the guide he organized was good. I would definitely go on another trek with Gokyo Treks if I visit Nepal again. – Sophie Boyce, Shropshire, United Kingdom
